Sad news:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39664839

44 is no age.

I picked him in my first ever fantasy league team back in 1993.

RIP.

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

Couldn't believe it when I heard this this morning. I'm not sure if it's just because it's being more widely reported or because it's happening to more high profile individuals, but this seems to be getting more and more common in younger people.

RIP.

Poor chap. Just goes to show you can be fit as a fiddle and still croak it at any time. It's doesn't seem fair.

I'm not some lunatic with an agenda but it does seem that cancers and random heart attacks appear to be on the rise and I can't help thinking that all the shite we put into our food nowadays can't be helping.

50 years ago we didn't artificially enhance food with all sorts of chemicals to make it look or taste "better" and I'm pretty sure less people were dying from cancer back then.

Makes you think......

Lots of people died of cancer back in the day but for the large part is was undiagnosed, attributed to something else or simply not mentioned.

Artificial ingredients can't help, but everything is carcenogenic to someone or other.

Bloody hell. Woke up this morning to the news that he'd collapsed. I'd assumed he was OK though.

Shocking news. RIP.

Anyone remember Dave Higson trying to read his name out before the kick off of a reserve match against Villa?

'I can't read yer name cock, but all the best anyway.'

I was thinking about that story this morning. I remember Phil Brown telling it on some sort of Dave Higson tribute.

Not your typical clogger of a centre-half.  A cultured  athlete.....and apparently one of the genuinely good guys....someone that will be remembered fondly by Villa fans. He set a good example to others.

it is very sad, he was a great centre half especially at Villa, i remember the Dave Higson thing as well!

I know players get their hearts checked every year but do coaches and managers?
