CASH-FLOW problems look like costing Wanderers key out-of-contract trio Matt Mills, Adam Bogdan and Darren Pratley.

The Bolton News understands negotiations with all three players have ground to a halt in the last couple of weeks, raising the possibility they will walk away for nothing this summer.

It is unclear whether the lack of funds is a temporary issue but the club declined to comment when approached yesterday.

Sources claim Whites boss Neil Lennon has concerns about the financial situation, which leaves him looking to plug holes in his squad with free transfers and loans.

Wanderers must submit a retained list by this weekend and could even confirm that one or more of the trio have been released.

Exits for high earners who were farmed out on loan this season like Jermaine Beckford and Keith Andrews will come as no surprise but other players, such as keeper Andy Lonergan, remain in limbo after discussions planned for last week did not materialise.

But in a week where the club “categorically” denied they were in talks with an Irish consortium about a potential takeover, the prospect of spending cuts and no outside investment makes very grim reading indeed for Whites fans.

Club skipper Mills is believed to be on a shortlist of signings for Fulham boss Kit Symons, who looked to take the defender on loan in January. And sources close to the player are also insistent that Nottingham Forest remain an option, despite Dougie Freedman rubbishing the story a fortnight ago.

The 28-year-old has said in the past that he wants to remain at Wanderers but recently raised doubts over his future with a post on his personal Instagram account which was interpreted by fans as a goodbye message.

Pratley is keen on a new deal with Wanderers after finally finding his niche last season under Lennon.

The midfielder was integral in the burst of form which saw the club climb clear of relegation trouble at the end of last year but suffered a badly torn hamstring in January.

An agreement had looked close until very recently but the 30-year-old is also now looking around for options.

Wanderers made a big play of a bumper contract offer to Bogdan, who Lennon identified as the man he wanted as his number one keeper.

But it appears the Northern Irishman could be left disappointed again, with the keeper no closer to signing.

This dont sound good.

Started off saying a few players will be released due to under performing etc...

Thats now changed to 'we are going to get rid of any fucker we can'

We are in shit state, league 1 beckoning next season, unless we fold first.

it is very worrying if this is true, we need some investment from somewhere quick or next season will be a carbon copy or this season Rolling Eyes

They are a loss, not because they're particularly outstanding but because we'll need to replace them, and when you replace players on a tighter budget it's rare to improve on quality.

the people that write these articles for the BN have about as much clue about the club as we do. They've got to sell papers somehow.. I mean the other day they published an article and the club itself released a statement claiming it was untrue.

In the same breath bolton news says we are struggling with money yet have offered Adam Bogdan a pay rise. I despise Marc lles and his cronies

Not really no.

Mills is terrible imo
Pratley was lambasted by fans for the majority of his time here and now they want him to stay?

Bogdan can be superb on his day but Amos proved you can pick up solid keepers for peanuts at this level.

Wouldn't exactly be hard to improve on quality of mills. Any league one clogger has more positional awareness than that clown.

I think we've all grown a bit complacent regarding the club's financial situation because we've had this massive debt for years and nobody at the club really seemed concerned (despite it being, on paper at least, one of the biggest in world football) and Gartside has kept banging on about how it isn't "real" debt and all that stuff.

So we've all thought: "We must be ok, so there's nothing to worry about."

But let's step back and be objective for a minute now:

The retained list should have been released a week ago but it still hasn't been.

Lennon has come out recently and said he's got no money to sign his targets, so it'll be Bosmans and loans again next season.

There are rumours about the Warburton family bailing the club out recently with a short-term loan.

It's no secret that ED is looking to sell the club - why now suddenly?

The only players we know for definite have accepted new deals are Heskey and Gudjohnsen - old, very cheap and not wanted by anybody else.

And the normally media-loving Phil Gartside's gone into hiding again, just like he does every time there's some bad news in the pipeline.

Me and Rebel may both be wrong, but I'm sure there must have been fans of Leeds and Portsmouth who were saying similar things just before the wheels spectacularly came off at their respective clubs too.

I hope I'm wrong but I am now more than a bit concerned.

The retained list has been held back until the Dev squad finish their season. A sort of last chance for younger players to impress.

The warburtons bailing the club out rumour was rubbished.

ED has been looking for a buyer for over two years.

And lennon has said since day one that he'd have little to no money to work with.
