Any chance of a new one?

I mean, yeah... cancer and that at 63 - Awful, yeah.....obviously.

But it's been almost two weeks.

He's not lying in state at Bolton Parish Church or anything, so can we move on now please?

And he was quite a divisive character when all's said and done, so whilst I agree that it was appropriate to respect his passing, do we really need to carry with the whole maudlin black background, sad-looking Phil thing?

Just an observation.

The new one is fitting and appropriate.

I feel like I'm watching "The God Channel on Sky 580: Please donate generously to guarantee your spot in Heaven!" looking at that.

Pledge fifty quid and you will be saved!

Sorry but I'm not interested in beatifying the man.

He played a massive part in driving our club to the brink of extinction so I'm not overly down with the idea of lauding him and celebrating his memory.

I've maintained for years that he was an objectionable character who only ever made a decision if it benefited his own personal agenda and I'm not changing my stance now just because he's dead.

Bollocks to him. Sorry for his family's loss and that but balls to him.

I think we should keep the banner until his funeral, assuming it hasn't already happened.

Cheap shot, show a little decency, think you're in a minority mate

Impressive banner, but it does look like something that might appear on the front cover of 'The Watchtower'.

Phil Gartside has obviously been a divisive character for many Bolton fans particularly over recent years.

Nuts isn't here to tell people they were right or wrong about him - you're all big enough to make your own minds about that - but love him or hate him he is dead and as a mark of respect to a key character in the clubs present time (who died remember whilst still in service with them) the least we can do in my opinion is to pay tribute to his memory until after his funeral.

I believe that is the right thing to do and hope most people will accept that reasoning.

Thank you.

Thank you

I was shocked to learn that there might not be a minute's silence at our next home game, because the family feel it might be disrespected.
If this is the case,it's very sad. Whatever our feelings about PG,it would be appropriate to mark his passing with due respect.
We're Bolton Wanderers. Let's do this right.

BTID did the first banner and Keegan did the current one.

We are very grateful to them both for giving up their time for free to do them.

We are happy to put whichever banner up people prefer or even a new one if someone else is good enough to do one for us.

Indeed any help at all in running this site would be very much appreciated (simply pm me or any of the other mods if you can and want to).

Go on, you know you really want to help out here!

Very Happy

Given that he died over a week ago and his family wanted to keep the details of his funeral private, I would suggest that it's already happened.

Think it's about time we changed the banner. The present one is depressing.

Let's get an upbeat vibe going.

Had to laugh at the new banner showing the league table. It wasn't so much the words "joint top" as the teams above us - Posh, Bury. Wozzle, Scunny, Gills and effing Millwall. Jaysus Smile
