Latest terrorist attack?

A lorry has ploughed into a Christmas market in the heart of Berlin, killing nine people and injuring many more, police say.

Police now say they suspect it was a deliberate attack. Video footage from the scene shows stalls knocked over and people lying injured on the ground.

The driver is believed to be under arrest while the co-driver died.

Compared to other countries we do seem to be hit less, a big part of it must be the intelligence services, years ago someone I knew well who was in the police implied that the reason we don't get hit in the same way is because we turn a blind eye to extremists living here in a tacit quid pro quo.
I prefer to think it's because our intelligence services are better at foiling them.

Its been said for a long time, that the European intelligence services were not always up to speed. Apparently its to do with guarding people's privacy, rights, etc. Unfortunately, it also makes them a soft target, and, to date, 12 people have died, with 49 seriously injured, showing there is possaibly some truth in the comment.

Forgot to add: unfortunately, because they thought they had the right person, a lot of the evidence at the site was trampled on, moved, etc, with the result that valuable forensic evidence has now been lost, making the job even harder.
