After two weeks of basically trying to kill myself through excess, I'm done now.

Last year I gave it up completely for January but this year it's probably going to be for a lot longer.

I can't do it any more and even though I generally only have a drink on a Friday, I'm struggling with the physical aftermath of that if I'm honest so time's up on my boozing.

Anybody else packing it in?

(Cue Whittam's comment along the lines of "Yeah, let's wait 'til Friday and see what happens...")

I hardly drink at all now. Best move I ever made. Go for it.

I'm in the middle of downsizing house so in addition to the Xmas stash I've got all the bottles and booze giftpacks that have emerged from the cupboards - enough to pickle an elephant, so I've got no chance TBH.

Packed in drinking in August 2015, feel a lot better and richer for it.

Should've packed it in, in 1966 when i was caught for drinking under age in The Crawford Arms, when i was 16 Shocked

The same Crawford Arms as in this post?

If so what a coincidence!

Haven't had a drink for 7 weeks now and no intention of changing that in the near future. Unbelievable how much money I'm saving and although I can't exactly say I suddenly feel like Superman I have lost a bit of weight and getting up of a morning is a lot easier.

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

I'm not a big drinker but I've absolutely hammered it over Christmas and new year with family parties and whatnot. Time to get back on the pepsi for me, I can't be doing with hangovers. There's nothing worse than trying to go to sleep but everytime you close your eyes it feels like everything is spinning at 100mph. Finally manage to get some kip and wake up feeling like I've gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. No thanks, I'll definitely stick to the Pepsi.

I disappear down holes or into ponds when I'm sober,so a bout of heavy drinking isn't very sensible.

I've been drinking far too much since I moved back to London so I'm doing my best to give it a rest in January. I could do with dropping a few pounds too.

I don't know if its the industry I'm working in (gambling) or just that its the way things are done over here but an awful lot of business seems to be conducted in the pub after work hours. Its rare a day goes by without someone suggesting a pint after work.

I also have a fantastic local and have fallen into the habit of nipping out for a couple when the kids are in bed. A routine I need to break.

I'd love to get through the month without a brown booze but seriously doubt it will be possible.
