Seems we have a new right back.

Wabara has tweeted how pleased he is to have signed for us and his tweet has been retweeted by Lee Anderson (Ken's son) so I guess there most be something in it.

Wabara played the second half of last season for Wigan after leaving Barnsley - and was good enough to make it into the Football Leagues team of last season for this division.

He is a free agent following Wigan not signing him at the end of the season and the only clue we have why that might be is a tweet he made some time previous about how he thought he wasn't offered the value he thought he was worth - or something like that.

You tube clip of a goal he got for Wigan below -

It was him or the experienced Bulgarian but I'm glad Parky thinks he's good enough as we'll probably be better off with the younger man in the long term.

I meant change it to "lightweight ponce" as we all know that's what he'll be.

WANDERERS have confirmed the signing of former Manchester City and Wigan Athletic defender Reece Wabara on a short-term deal.

The 25-year-old right-back has been training at Lostock for the last couple of weeks in the hope of earning a contract.

Wabara started his career at City, and made his debut against Wanderers as the club sealed Champions League football at the Reebok with a 2-0 win in 2011 under the guidance of Roberto Mancini.

He had loan spells at Ipswich, Oldham, Blackpool and Doncaster before signing a permanent deal with the South Yorkshire club in August 2013.

He moved on to Barnsley and then Wigan – helping the Latics back into the Championship at the first time of asking last season.

Wabara had a trial at Leeds United in the summer and has also been strongly linked with a return to the DW Stadium.

He has represented England at youth level and played in the Under-29 World Cup in 2011.

But after Lawrie Wilson was ruled out for the rest of the season with a torn hamstring tendon, Phil Parkinson brought him in for cover.
