What happened in Tunisia was a tragedy but the coroner has already rejected the argument that the travel company was negligent. Yet naturally a lawyer sees this as an opportunity to make money by playing on the greed on the bereaved. What could the travel company realistically have done to prevent this?

I had the same thoughts, listening to Kylie delivering her spiel on the 5Live news on the way home earlier.

You've got to draw the line somewhere and ultimately the one to blame here is the nutter with the gun.

But.......

....we were in Tunisia (with TUI) 4 months before this attack occurred and it was only after the event that we discovered that there had been a series of "near misses" prior to it happening.

And in all honesty if we'd known, we would never have taken the risk.

Did TUI know (or care) about the intel coming out of Tunis?

And if so, did they have a moral obligation to put customer safety over profit?

I'd say yes, so whilst it feels a bit grubby cashing in on people's misfortune, you can argue that TUI may well be liable.

I think youre right Breaders. The travel companies are obliged to at least make sure people are informed, and with such a topic, they must have such information made available to them. Not passing it on is criminal.

Personally I wouldn't have gone to Tunisia after the Bardo attack 3 months earlier but as I understand it the Foreign Office advice was reassuring and didn't change until after the Sousse attack. That's why I think it is unreasonable to blame the travel company.

I think we have to accept that nowhere is completely safe, and that we travel at our own risk.

As a rule of thumb,if you see me on the ship/plane,get off at once.

This. :agree: .

Do your own research beforehand and don't be blinded by the glitzy brochures. All that glitters is not gold.

Why do we experiment on animals when there are so many lawyers?
