On the importance of victory over Shrewsbury Town…
It was a huge win for us today. It was a very difficult game which you would expect with Shrewsbury scrapping for every point down the bottom of the table.

After our recent results, they were always going to make it difficult for us and they matched us all over the pitch.

They did a good job I felt, especially in the first half. It became a scrappy game, but we just had to grind it out and wait for that moment to unlock the door which came via Beevers’ goal.

We then followed that up with another great ball from Fil and another superb finish from Alfie.

The boys deserve a lot of credit today though. Shrewsbury have had eight days to prepare for this game, whereas we’ve had a lot of games and a busy week.

The way the boys stuck at their job thought was superb.

On having a week-break before the next match…
We can take a deep breath and enjoy the week before our next game. We need to patch a few people up as we picked up a few injuries today which is a shame.

The players who have come on today though in Longy, Dean Moxey and Mark Howard have all contributed to the victory.

We need this free week though to get ready for another batch of games coming up thick and fast.

On the need for players to be ready to be involved…
We put Derik back into the starting XI today because on Tuesday, Jay Spearing had a bit of cramping in his calf after not figuring too much of late.

We felt it was best to put Derik’s fresh legs in and he did well, so we’re going to have to make decisions like that along the way.

There’s a good spirit in the camp though and I’m very pleased with that.

On another clean sheet…
It’s very pleasing. I was very relieved when Mark caught the ball from the corner right at the end because it killed the game off.

Clean sheets are always pleasing though. We conceded two goals on Tuesday, so to get back to that clean sheet mentality today was very important.

We looked solid today though. It was difficult in the first half because the defenders has the sun in their eyes so at times Shrewsbury looked a little threatening.

In the second half though, we restricted them to very little.

On the contribution of Filipe Morais…
I’m really pleased with what Fil has produced yet again. He had Junior Brown up against him who is a very good player, but his pass for the second goal and his burst of pace showed his quality.

When you get into those positions, there’s nobody else you want on the end of it apart from Alfie.

On the team spirit around the club as a whole…
Everybody at the club is pulling together – from everybody who works at Macron Stadium to those up at the training ground, you can see that everybody is doing that extra little bit to keep us up there.

There’s a lot of work left to do though but we’ve got ourselves into a superb position and we need to take that advantage home.
