Hi all

I've been away for a while. My mum passed away last September (on the 2nd) and my older sister died eight days later (on the 10th). While neither event was completely unexpected (mum had a poor heart and was in her 80s while my sister had a long battle with pancreatic cancer) they did hit hard, particularly because they happened so close together. Unfortunately that wasn't the end of the bad news.

After my sister's funeral things got ugly within the family. I won't go into detail but certain people within it started complaining about who got what from the two estates and it ended up in court. Both wills were upheld (as they damned well should have been) but as you all know by now I was (and still am) battling with depression and the entire situation just dragged me to an all time low. I don't personally benefit from either will and didn't want to but some members of my family seem to believe I betrayed them by not joining them in contesting the wills. It's effectively cut the family in half, perhaps irreparably so given some of the things that have been said over the last few months but it is now over and perhaps one day some sort of healing will happen but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyway, the hearings are all over now and what my mum and sister wanted is going to happen. I do feel somewhat better and of course I'm delighted we've been promoted but in truth I've got almost no idea what's happening with the club, players etc so I'm going to be pretty quiet during the immediate future while I try and catch up.

I'm really sorry that you've had all that bad news to deal with along with your own problems that preceded the events.

There's not a lot I can say to make things better for you but I hope that somehow and in some way they do.

It is really good to here from you (if you know what I mean) because I had thought you had in some way been overwhelmed with your own situation and was not coping.

It's really good to know you are still battling despite everything that has happened.

As for the club, obviously it is wonderful that we bounced back at the first time of asking but we are not out of the woods yet until Anderson can sort out the financial mess he inherited from Davies - then Holdsworth.

And as for Nuts, a lot of the nastiness has finally been cut out of here but it hasn't completely gone away I regret to say.

Feel free to chip in anytime you feel is right for you Peter.

Hope Wendy and the kids are all fine.

Stay strong mate.

Thanks bud. I'll be my usual loquacious self soon but I don't like to post unless I know at least something of what I'm talking about. I did get to about a dozen matches during the season but in truth I didn't follow the news about BWFC or football in general at all really. In fact I only know Chelsea are top of the prem because Connor's so peeved about it. Anyway, I'm going to take a few weeks to try and catch up with things and maybe when I'm sure I'm up to it I'll dust off the old blogs I'd started and post a few. For now I'm just going to watch and listen until I'm sure I have something worthwhile to say. It's great to be back though, not just here but to my life in general.

Welcome back Peter.
It sounds like you've been through a pretty hellish time, and I can only echo the thoughts of Sluffy, when I say that my thoughts are with you,and your family,at a particularly difficult time.

Welcome back, Peter.

Sorry to hear about your problems.

I've been exactly where you are and I know just how hard it gets. Keep your chin up and keep plodding on, mate.

It's all we can do at the end of the day.

Thanks guys, will do. I'm looking forward to the summer holidays to be honest. Wendy's decided she and I are going away by ourselves to Spain, some place near Alicante. Since all four 'kids' agree with her I'm pretty well boxed in on it. When I asked if I got a vote the answer was a resounding no. It turns out the luckyPiper household is NOT a democracy after all Very Happy

Basically Wendy feels we've all been through the wringer this last few months, all four of our children agree with her and it was they who decided mum and dad need a break from everything. In fact it was Connor and Hannah who decided where we're going and Matthew and Tanya who firmly informed us that since the 'children' are now all at least legally adult they can survive two weeks of their own cooking etc. Personally I suspect there's going to be a large number of 'Just Eat' receipts in my e-mail inbox when we get back and a tower of empty pizza boxes in the living room. Smile

And I echo these sentiments as well. I hope you heal from all the trauma soon, and well.

I think I'll be fine thanks Amanda. I just wish the family as a whole hadn't suffered such extensive damage as a result of this business. I suppose I might be being naive but I don't understand why some of my siblings and cousins felt they knew better than my mum what she wanted and why they felt my sister's will should include them by right. I've known for years what mum in particular planned and never had any problem with it. My sister has left everything to her own children which is absolutely natural imo but for some reason members of the extended family feel they were somehow entitled to what they called 'our share'. When I refused to back them and then went so far as to testify against them it got really ugly.

Don't you know bonce? You're a lifelong BWFC fan like me and some people believe that's adequate grounds to be sectioned all by itself Very Happy Honesty compels me to admit they may have a point Wink

Peter,

You're probably not interested but we're over in Spain next week and we're staying in an apartment that the estate agent we're going to see has recommended.

It's not Alicante, as it's in a place called Vera in Murcia but it's fairly cheap and looks like decent value for money at only 300 Euros for a week.

The flights with Jet2 from Manchester work out at £100 each.

Here's a link:

If you're interested, drop me a PM and I'll send some pics when we get back.

Glad to see you back lpp.  Hope you are on the up.  Sure bonce has some tales of misjudgement whether walking, cycling or some sort of purchase that could cheer you up.

Sounds like you've had a rough time LPP, so I really hope things improve for you.

In your absence Breadman has become my bitch, sluffy and wanderlust are now dating, and Bonce is, well, still Bonce.

My condolences Peter.

Unfortunately what happened to your family is all too common. After my parents death there were major rows in my family and the result is that one of my sisters is not talking to my other sister or myself. I have heard of this happening all too often and it seems that what the deceased actually wanted doesn't matter to some family members.

I hope you enjoy your holiday and welcome back. At least there is something to celebrate for BWFC.

Gosh, what an awful time you've had, Peter. Great to see that you've overcome things sufficiently to be able to resume Nuts' restorative joys.  A good stress management practitioner can help, if you feel inclined.
