Today the missus isnt well so ive cleaned up (wont be to her standards like but ive done the kitchen, dining room, living room and hall way)

Now im sat with a coffee while my lad is on his wii u playing minecraft with his friends, little girl is making me pink soup in her kitchen and i have the complete stone roses playing on the record player.

I actually feel relaxed which isn't allowed for me

I'm usually sat at my desk pouring over the racing pages, sorting out my horse and footy bets. A big mug of tea,and some Hobnobs aren't too far away, and I'm usually eyeing Nuts on the laptop, whilst simultaneously checking out the prices at Ladbrokes on the desktop.
It's a complicated business at the best of times, but on a match day I have the added pressure of being pushed for time. It's a 2 hour journey to the Macron for me,so everything is always a bit of a rush.
Might watch City later.
Hope the Mrs is feeling better very soon Johnny.

johnny/karly, I think I have asked you thins before but... I'm thinking of getting a console for my lads (6 & 8 and not sure what to get. I know the answer is probably 'whatever their friends have' but do you have any advice? playstation? Xbox? Wii? I know nothing about this stuff other than they're Minecraft obsessed on their iPads. What do you reckon?

I think the wii u is brill fin.  Although it is now outdated due to the switch but i dont think they have minecraft or many games on that yet.  Id say the xbox and playstation is for when they get a bit older.  Secondary school perhaps.  But as the switch has just come out there will still be plenty of life in the wii u and i imagine quite a few deals knocking about.

Look for cheap offers on lego dimensions/disney infinity/skylanders etc as they are really good games for that age group.  On the nintendo store ypu van also download some of the retro games like mario etc.

Obvs i should be saying ps4 really as my uncle worka for scee but i thi k the wii u is more age appropriate

my Saturday mornings are spent watching my lad play football, yesterday was supposed to be a friendly but the team we were playing were a bit rough to put it mildly. They are only under 10's but they all flew in with sliding tackles which i'm not sure are allowed at this level?

The coach was one of the old school types, shouting things like get stuck in and constantly barking at the kids. I thought there was more of a  move to let kids learn the game than worry about winning at all costs but not for this fella's team.

My sons team coaches thankfully have a different outlook than the other teams as their philosophy is that kids should learn the game and enjoy playing with no pressure

As for consoles an Xbox 360 is a good console, they are cheaper now that the xbox one is out and my son loves his, although he does want an upgrade this Christmas

Give them a ball and tell them to play in the street and mind the cars.

It did me, Bonce and Glos no harm has it lads!

I bought a refurbished (or should that be wiifurbished? Very Happy ) one as they are now discontinued for £99.99 and I wouldn't normally buy a used one but it arrived in good condition with not a bit of food stuck all over it insight.

I am moving my TV off it's stand to the fireplace as the little one keeps going to bang the screen and rock it and I don't fancy shelling out for another telly.

I still love my original Wii but it doesn't support HDMI (I know I can buy a cheap adapter but it's an excuse) so it won't stretch with the cables etc but apart from that I am in the process of hacking it and I am planning to play the games such as Mario Party 10, Mario Kart, Super Mario (of course!) and some of the interactive party games that may take the Mrs fancy.

Will have a look at Minecraft and a couple of others. Smile

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

Good move with the telly kp. I've had my tv fixed 3 times because of the bloody kids. Good thing I have it insured. As for consoles, we've got a wii u, an xbox 360 and an xbox one. Unfortunately the gamepad for the wii u is broken (kids again) so I can't connect it to the Internet. My lad loves minecraft but I just don't get it personally. I think it's shit. MarioKart is the best game you can buy for the wii u and another good thing about it is that all the games for the old wii are compatible with the wii u.

Games like skylanders are good but you are constantly paying for new figures etc and it runs into the hundreds of pounds over the lifetime of the game and then they just bring out a new one.

This morning I got a call from a friend who told me she'd had a lovely lie-in followed by a leisurely breakfast in the garden and was just wondering what she was going to do for the rest of the day when she realised it is in fact Monday.
