Bolton Wanderers are pleased to confirm that Dorian Dervite has agreed a new one-year deal with an option.

The Frenchman played a key role for Wanderers as the Whites bounced back into the Sky Bet Championship under the stewardship of Phil Parkinson.

Sitting alongside Mark Beevers and David Wheater, the 28-year-old was part of the best defence in England during the 2016/17 season.

Having joined the Trotters in 2014 from Charlton Athletic, the French youth international has made 83 appearances for Wanderers including 14 during last campaign.

With his contract expiring this summer, Bolton have opted to extend Dervite’s stay at Macron Stadium.

He said: "I'm really pleased to have the deal sorted. Since joining the club three years ago, I have enjoyed my time here and last season, it was fantastic to be a part of a promotion-winning team.

"I liked working with the manager too and I am pleased that my contract has been sorted early on in the summer so that I can focus on my pre-season preparations.

"I look forward to playing Championship football once again and hopefully making more happy memories with Bolton Wanderers.”

Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson added: “Dorian was a bit of a forgotten man last year but came in and made an excellent contribution towards the end of the campaign.

“I am pleased that he has agreed to return to the club.”

Bloody Hell, Parky is doing a great job of putting together a team to challenge in League 1.

Dervite was absolute crap in the Championship, and a few decent games in an already settled back 4 doesn't change the fact he is rubbish.

He was playing in a new 3 at the back not a settled back 4, perhaps the system suits him more, TBF I agree about his past performances but from memory they where playing in a 4.

Perhaps he is Bolton's version of David Luiz.
