JAY Spearing has seemingly ruled out a return to Bolton Wanderers by bidding farewell to the club on his Instagram account.

The midfielder saw his contract expire at the Macron Stadium this summer but manager Phil Parkinson has consistently refused to rule out bringing him back to the club.

Spearing made 173 appearances for Wanderers over five years, having initially joined from Liverpool on loan.

Dougie Freedman made him a permanent signing in August 2013 for £3million and he went on to captain the club on numerous occasions.

“I’d just like to put out to the Bolton fans and players over the last five years a massive thank you,” the player wrote this afternoon.

“It was an honour and a pleasure for myself and family to captain Bolton and be a part of getting promotion back to the Championship.

“Unfortunately, things have been taken out of my hands but I would like to wish the lads the best for the season ahead.”

Out of his hands my arse. He could have accepted earlier. Now that deal is unavailable due to restrictions his loss. Hope he doesn't find a club.

Totally agree.

He was our captain.

He had five years on top wages (even when we got relegated).

We've made him a multi-millionaire.

He COULD have given something back for just one season, to establish us in the Championship - knowing full well how hard it will be for us but he just fucked us off like a greedy twonk and looked for more money than we were allowed to pay him (or anyone else for that matter).

Wheater returned.

ALF signed on.

Ameobi signed on.

Morais signed on.

Taylor signed on.

Karacan signed on.

All of them played for us last season and all of them will be on about the same money to each other.

Our captain however...

Greedy and ungrateful.

Still only 28, plenty of time to earn more millions if he wanted to join all his mates for such a key season for us in many ways.

I've never rated his professionalism - since he got pissed up in public halfway through our relegation season and had pictures of him posted up on twitter.

He's clearly got no loyalty or gratitude either.

He still hasn't found a club.

He's in danger of becoming the next ::bellend:: .

£9 grand a week is better than nothing. He probably thought other teams would come in for him but at £18 grand a week it looks he has no takers.

What annoys me is that he knew full well that the club is on it's uppers and that if we were daft enough to offer him the full whack it would mean losing out on at least one other player.
If he had agreed to play for the reduced rate and we manage to survive there may have been more money available for him next season.

He talked the talk but it's clear he simply doesn't care about the club.

If he had any sense he'd take the hefty paycut to £4.5k a week if it's on the table. The other option would be a similar deal in League 1. Or indeed becoming Reo-Coker.
