A David Nugent brace ensured it was a disappointing afternoon for Wanderers as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Macron Stadium against Derby County on Saturday.

Gary Madine scored a late consolation goal in stoppage time, but it was not enough for the Whites who slipped to their second home defeat of the season.

Speaking to bwfc.co.uk following the final whistle, manager Phil Parkinson covered the following points...

On today’s defeat to Derby County…

We gave ourselves a mountain to climb this afternoon with two very soft goals.

Derby are a good side but when you concede very soft goals like we did today we made it very difficult for ourselves.

We tried to step on to them up the pitch, but when you concede goals like we did it gives a good side a huge lift.

You could see the confidence and belief went during the first period. Credit to the lads they gave it their all during the second half and stuck at it. It doesn’t matter what level you play at if you give away two goals like we did today then it’s going to be a struggle.

On his side’s second-half performance…

Credit to the lads they gave it their all during the second half and stuck at it. It doesn’t matter what level you play at if you give away two goals like we did today then it’s going to be a struggle.

The lads kept going in the second half and it obvious we can play a lot better than that.

On consecutive home defeats…

We spoke after the Leeds game about giving ourselves a chance in these games and being strong defensively as a team, but we’ve done exactly the same.

We’re up against a strong side and we have to accept that and talk about Derby’s quality players.

We knew we were going to be up against it, but that doesn’t excuse giving the two goals away.

We’re hugely frustrated but we need to dust ourselves down and look at the game today and move on.

On Gary Madine’s second goal of the season…

We’ve got the late consolation goal and if we had maybe got that five or ten minutes earlier then we could have had a real good go at them.

We tried everything to change it; we made the change at half time, brought Will (Buckley) on and then having the two big fellas upfront.

We have to make sure we stick together, we can’t point the finger at each other, it’s a tough division, but we all know we can do better after a defeat.

And finally, on Tuesday’s Carabao Cup fixture against Sheffield Wednesday…

It’s important that we are back out there as soon as Tuesday to make this right. We have to be ready for our next two games and we will be, we have to put on a better display.

Fuck off Parkinson, stop fucking "giving credit" just because they weren't as shite in the second half.

Resign you clown. Out of your depth.
