On another good point on the road…

I’m very pleased with our efforts tonight. Coming back on the road after the Millwall game at the weekend and to put in a performance like that is very pleasing.

It was a tough game, but they’re all like that. I thought we stood very strong as a team and played some excellent football at times.

In open play, I think we created the best chances and Darren and Adam both had good opportunities to score.

I thought generally we looked a real threat tonight and it’s probably the best all-round performance we’ve put in so far.

Maybe we should have taken all three points, but we’re really pleased with the clean sheet and you can see the team growing in confidence in each game.

On a solid team performance across the board…

We were very disciplined in our approach and committed, which you’ve got to be in this division. When we won the ball back and gave it to Josh Cullen in midfield, he was instrumental in our attacks.

We looked fit and that was key to our success. We only made two changes from the team who started at Millwall on the weekend, but the team gave their all from start to finish.

On the relationships forming throughout the team…

As more games pass, players will grow to know one another and that’s certainly the case with the lads.

Reece and Josh have settled in well even though they’ve had no pre-season games with the lads too.

I think tonight was Jem Karacan’s best game for us as well – he looked a real threat at times and put some great crosses in as well.

All in all, it’s a good night’s work. We would have loved to have taken three points, but it wasn’t to be.

We came up against a side though who have a £1.5 million striker and were able to throw Lukas Jutkiewicz on at half time.

We’ve had to deal with a lot tonight, but we stood strong, concentrated and I’m very pleased with the way we approached the match.

On a first clean sheet on the season…

Clean sheets are very important at any level of football. If you concede one, you’ve still got to have that mentality to not concede again.

The only 45 minutes we’ve been disappointed with this season was the first half against Leeds.

We’ve rectified that in the past two league games though and although we conceded a goal at Millwall, after that, there was a real determination not to concede another.

Our approach play tonight though was extremely pleasing. We got into some very good positions which was great to see and we now move onto the weekend.

On Adam Armstrong and Filipe Morais’ first starts of the campaign…

We’re very pleased with those two. We knew it would be an ask for them, but Fil has worked very hard since being back on the training pitch.

Young Adam has had to be patient too. He played well at Crewe obviously where he got his goal, but I thought tonight his overall play was very good and he put in a long shift for the team.

On the away following…

Their backing was superb. They gave the lads a great reception, especially at the end. Like the Millwall game, although they would have loved to have seen a win, they understand the team and the progress we’re making and they’ve seen a very good performance tonight.

And finally, on returning home this weekend…

it will be good to get back on our home patch and we’re looking forward to it. We need to get as much rest in these lads as possible and allow them to recover for Saturday.

To run out at Macron Stadium this weekend though off the back of three very good away performances is a great credit to the lads, but we need to build on that and show again what we’re capable of against Derby.
