Bolton Wanderers were defeated 1-0 by Swansea City in the Sky Bet Championship at the University of Bolton Stadium.

A wonder goal from Barrie McKay was the difference maker in this clash, as his 25 yard powerful strike flew into the top left corner.

When speaking to bwfc.co.uk after the game, manager Phil Parkinson covered the following topics…

On his assessment of the game…

I am very disappointed with the result and again, I stand here saying similar things to what I have previously.

We’ve conceded after 15 minutes and we could have reacted better but it is an incredible strike from the lad straight into the top corner.

We’ve dominated large parts of the game and had several chances but when we have those periods of pressure, we are unable to turn them into goals at the moment.

I cannot fault the lads for effort at all. Effort to run, keep going and bravery to keep playing.

Everyone has worked so hard this week, players and staff, because we knew it was a big game for us.

We have given it everything and we are just lacking that moment of quality to give us a lift in the games.

I thought the supporters were fantastic today and I would like to thank every single one of them, as they stayed with the side to the very end.

We know it is frustrating when you are seeing your team beaten at home and it is a similar story.

We have to keep working and we are a resilient group and will continue to show that and come bouncing back.

On deserving something from the game…

Without a doubt.

We played a decent team who have just come down from the Premier League and they do possess quality.

But, I thought are play was very good

You can talk about systems, styles and personnel and we all analyse every performance and how we could have done various things.

In reality, the difference is just putting the ball in the back of the net when we have those periods of pressure.

That is the difference between us and we feel that when we beat Derby, it was an excellent display from us.

I thought today that we were as good as that but the difference is, we just didn’t get the goal.

The lads are down but I am not down with them.

I thought every single one of them gave their all for the club.

On the frustration at the lack of goals currently…

Goals lift everybody, moments of quality give players and supporters a huge lift and we are going through a period where we can’t produce that.

If you analyse the last five games in between the two international breaks, the amount of chances we have had and the lack of goals is quite incredible really.

Maybe we have got a bit of luck coming our way.

I thought there was a penalty appeal today where I have seen it back that Doidgey has got up fantastically well and Ozzie has been poleaxed in the penalty area.

On another day, we get that decision and gets us that lift we need.

I am always low after getting beat and all the staff are, but I would be more disappointed if I had seen a performance without the sort of character today.

On Sammy Ameobi returning…

I thought Sammy was excellent today, as it was a tough ask to put him in straight from the start.

He grew into the game and we planned to bring him off but he kept producing for us.

He is an important player for us and can have a big impact for us after the international break.

On our next game against Millwall…

We have two weeks now to regroup and continue to work hard as a unit.

We have to be ready and I am convinced that if we keep playing the way we do, we will get results.

However, it is just that final moments that cost us.

What else can he say? We might as well just tape one of his press conferences and play it after every game, no one will notice because no one's listening anyway.
