Bit of a shock.

Don't know the story yet -

Huddersfield Town have sacked manager Lee Clark, BBC Radio Leeds understands.

More to follow.

Must be for something other than results - he's hardly lost a game over the last 12 months.

Going to Leeds apparently -

Lee Clark is set to take over at Leeds after leaving his post as Huddersfield boss.
Leeds have been without a manager since sacking Simon Grayson at the start of the month.

Maybe they are going to take Coyle off our hands.

"Last night's defeat by Sheffield United was the last straw in a deteriorating relationship between Lee Clark and the Huddersfield Town board. When all is said and done Town have lost only three out of their last 55 league matches which, if nothing, just shows how high the standards are at the club. My understanding is that Mark Lillis will remain in charge indefinitely and the club won't be in a huge hurry to start the search for Clark's permanent replacement."

Paul Ogden - BBC Radio Leeds's Huddersfield Town reporter

Coyle's lost a staggering THIRTYTWO out of the last 55 league games.

Not sure if I am looking at it wrongly but this has nothing to do with results then, most probably asked the board if he could speak to Leeds about the vacant job and got sacked.

3 defeats in 55 is incredible for that league especially.

An intersting view from a Hudds fan: -

Last night was crap in repsect of zero football skills no passing no tackling, midfielders who were out fought out moved, we never looked like scoring in open play and relied on a long throw, free kick or corner going our way. Some of Lee's antics were cringeworthy. Something had to give and we must trust Deano - he's bankrolled Clark in a way no previous manager has ever been supported and has sufficient dosh to give the same to whoever he chooses as a replacement.

The applications will flood in, the ground and academy is sorted so any £s available go to staff and wages, the support (albeit 2000 than physically stated each game) could rise from the hardcore 11,000 towards 14,000 with a few wins and some flair. I thought the atmosphere was pretty flat in the home ends because folk simply felt we didn't have what was necessary to win that game, yes we were unlucky not to get a point but that wasn't enough on the night and in view of recent results.

Unless we can win 12 of the remaining 16, perhaps draw 2 lose 2 we will be back in the play off lottery and history shows we're not too good at that aspect of the pressure game.

It will be intersting to see where LC ends up in future, his statistics look ok, he talks a good game but as a midfield general it's ultimately that area he has failed to sort out, too many draws and failure in the big games might just keep him at a more realistic level than he feels he can achieve himself.

I would have liked to see him succeed but he's not got to grips with the after math of May '11 and would have gone in 18 games time, the end of April in current form.

Sounds like an ideal replacement for Coyle. tongue
