Davy Jones of The Monkees has died. Only aged 66. Has Aaron Ramsey scored for Wales against Costa Rica tonight ?

My wife told me the news earlier. I didn't believe her.

I quite liked the Monkees, sad I know, but in those days, all the music was good. So many groups with so many different styles, etc. Whereas Davey Jones was an archetypal Brit in Americaq, I thought Mickey Dolenz had the better career. Started as Circus Boy, moved on to the Monkees, and then produced Metal Mickey. Don't know what happened to him after that.

Last Train to Clarksville is a great pop song.

Also one of those songs that reminds me of a particular time, place and certain people. Music has a wonderful ability to do that.

Born in openshaw Manchester, one of his first TV roles as Ena Sharples grandson in Coronation Street and then found world fame in The Monkees.

Local lad, done well!
