Everyone keeps banging on about if they love Heinz or Branston baked beans.

I love Heinz and the wife can't get enough of them either and she farts like a trooper with them as well!

What brand do you guys buy and enjoy?

I like to put a big dollop of HP sauce in the middle of mine.

Not had beans for years. What happened to HP baked beans? Catchy song and the beans weren't bad either.

Or is Branston a rebranding of HP?

We normally have Heinz but Aldi do decent baked beans as well, and they are cheaper..

you can still buy HP beans, they have a blue label with the HP logo on them.

Blind tasting from 2005 results:

WAITROSE BAKED BEANS IN TOMATO SAUCE 25P

There are a lot of beans in this tin but the sauce is quite watery and on the sweet side. The beans are a bit too soft like they have been overcooked and are on the mushy side. The overall taste is bland and lacking in seasoning. Disappointing.

5/10

BRANSTON BAKED BEANS IN TOMATO SAUCE 44P

This tin is packed full of beans and the sauce is thick and quite gloopy. While the beans are nicely cooked with a good texture, there seems to be something missing from the sauce.

It has a strong, dark colour, but tastes starchy and a little stale.

7/10

TESCO BAKED BEANS IN TOMATO SAUCE 24P

The sauce is a very appetising rich red colour and has a clean, tomato flavour. The beans are nice and firm and, with the sauce, are a delicious tangy combination with just a hint of seasoning. Slightly spicy taste. A real winner.

8/10

HEINZ BAKED BEANS IN TOMATO SAUCE 25P

The sauce is very pale and unappetising and the beans taste bland and overboiled. I can't taste any tomato, although the sauce is sweet and pleasant. It needs an extra ingredient to give it a bit more body and bite.

Comfort food,

but a bit boring.

6/10

I use my Tardis to go back to 2005. I find the prices are much better than these days.

Next time you go shopping, swing by the Reebok and tell Gartside to give Allardyce some cash for players.
