Wanderers’ chances of landing Lukas Jutkiewicz next season may have been given a boost after Middlesbrough launched a move for Dougie Freedman’s former boot boy.

Several reports yesterday claimed Boro boss Aitor Karanka has made a bid for Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban – a former team-mate of the Whites boss.

The Spaniard is looking to bolster his strikeforce next season and his pursuit of the 22-goal ex-Crystal Palace trainee could force Jutkiewicz closer to the exit door at the Riverside.

Reports claim Grabban has a £3million release clause in his contract, and other clubs are also monitoring his situation.

Karanka has said he wants to talk with Jutkiewicz before deciding on his future but sources close to the player say he has resigned himself to leaving Boro, ideally for Bolton.

The 24-year-old, dubbed “The Juke” by Bolton fans, scored seven goals in a successful loan spell that started in January.

Fingers crossed this is accurate. He really impressed during his spell and based upon appearances and performances during his time with us could turn out to be a real Whites star. Feel this is a lot more in the direction we should be going.

Cardiff City have had a bid in excess of £3m accepted for Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban.
The 26-year-old scored 22 goals for the Cherries during their 2013-14 Championship campaign and helped his side finish 10th in the division.
Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and Brighton are also believed to be interested in signing him.
Cardiff were relegated back to the Championship after just one season in the Premier League.
If the player completes the move to Cardiff, the fee will be a record for a Bournemouth player - beating the £1m received for Danny Ings when he moved to Burnley in 2011.
The Welsh club's bid is officially undisclosed, but it is big enough to trigger a £3m release clause in the player's contract.
Cardiff's bid also underline the difference in the finances of the two clubs, who will face each other in the Championship next season.
Official figures released by the Premier League showed Cardiff earned £62m in television money from their season in the top flight.
City will also receive a further £40m-plus in parachute payments following their relegation.
The move for Grabban will increase speculation that striker Fraizer Campbell could be on the move after the Welsh club finished bottom of the Premier League.
Defender Steven Caulker and midfielder Gary Medel have release clauses which can be triggered by relegation.
The Bluebirds have already secured the signature of Javi Guerra from Spanish club Real Valladolid.

Does this mean that "Bolton's hope of signing Juke" have fallen and we can get on with sorting out the rest of the squad?

We wont sign juke regardless.

Boro will want a fee, any fee will be considered a 'ransom' by uncle garty.

No idea what Gartside thinks, but I reckon we value Juke at somewhere around £1.5m and if Boro ask for more than our valuation we'll be looking elsewhere.
We should be looking elsewhere anyway to see if there's a better option.

Juke banged in (I think) 9 goals in half a season and didn't start every game.

He has the potential to be that 20+ goal a season striker we have been crying out for.

We have not had a natural goalscorer on our books since Anelka/klasnic.

That's half why I posted it.

And he's available now after Cardiff released him.

If he signs for us I win a bet made on BBC 606 back in 2005, so get it done Phil!!!

You're bigging him up RR - stats suggest he can score 16 or 17 a season tops but that could improve if the Dougie manages to get the balanced midfield he's after.

I'd talk him down so we don't sound so desperate and maybe the price tag will not be too silly.
