Andy Taylor could make a first-team return for Wanderers against Rotherham United after the international break.

The full-back has been side-lined with a calf injury since the start of September with a calf injury but Phil Parkinson believes Taylor can be match-ready again when Championship action resumes on October 20.

“We’re hoping Andy Taylor will be fit for when we come back from the international break,” he told The Bolton News. “The injury has been a bit trickier than we first thought. At first we thought it was a slight muscle strain but a scan showed some tendon damage.

“He has been working hard in the gym and he’s got time now to show he’s ready for that first game.”

News of Taylor’s return will be a boost for Wanderers. Birmingham City loanee Jonathan Grounds has held down the left-back slot for the last six games but has struggled to find consistency.

Parkinson has also recently recruited Lloyd Dyer on a free transfer with a view to using the experienced wide man in a wing-back role, if needed.

Meanwhile, Ken Anderson has confirmed a winding-up order from HMRC will be paid in full over the next few days.

The Wanderers chairman accepts headlines about financial issues, including a brush with administration after a dispute over debt owed to BluMarble finance, have been difficult for supporters to digest.

“Do I like it? No. But I believe it is a means to an end,” he said. “I know it will always be with me – and that people will write about financial problems and the like but I think the overall saving to the club was something like £5m. I haven’t just negotiated with BluMarble, I have with others as well.

“I have had sleepless nights, waking up at two, three four in the morning and wondering if I’d missed something or if I’d done the right thing, or if this would come back to haunt me.

“The BluMarble situation became like a game of chess where I’m trying to forecast my opponent’s next move but we got what we wanted.”
