Lol - as an accountant you would. As a business strategist I'd be more inclined to say no profit leads to no cashflow - although my particular bugbear was Clients who failed to fully cost their offerings in any transaction and turnover for turnover's sake was a last resort but only if there was light at the end of the tunnel, so I would. There again no cashflow leads to....it's a rock, paper, scissors thing when you look at businesses holistically isn't it? But both points (margin and sustainability) are valid and it seems Anderson is unable to do anything about either. It's a slow and tortuous death.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] wrote:Lusty,? The old adage that turnover is vanity and profit is sanity springs to mind.
As an accountant we normally say that profit is vanity but cash flow is sanity.
Either way BWFC can boast of having neither

And now there's speculation - albeit in the BN - that Anderson may accept £300k for Luca Connell. Does anyone really think that when the debts are mounting at the rate they are that it would be in the club's interest to offload one of our best young prospects for a fee that doesn't even amount to a sticking plaster in the current situation? That's not even two weeks' wages for the team.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] wrote:But we saved a million quid on a striker... good plan![You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] wrote:£1 million owed to HMRC, £1.5 million to the Council, £600k wages and £5 million to the Davis estate.

There's no way of disguising the fact that if this was to happen it would be to prop up the the Anderson regime for a bit longer to give him time to negotiate a personal payoff that would dwarf this pittance of a fee.

£300,000- the amounts an insult, designed to kick us when we're already on the floor. If they added a zero to the end of it ,then the amount would be worth thinking about.
Its £100k less than Sanchez weekly wage at Utd.

The club need to sign him up to another deal so that when the inevitable happens we at least get decent money for him. What a mess this club is now

i'm sure i saw somewhere that our wage bill was 600K a month so that's 2 weeks wages! Not worth letting him go for that surely?

Yes- its important, but not at any cost. Connell is worth far more than that. Watch KA attempt to start an auction with the other clubs who are interested.

Perhaps if Anderson had generated a bit of trading profit he could afford to offer Connell a decent contract but it's too late for that now. More realistically he should have sold the club when he had the chance - but his priority is allegedly personal gain over the best interest of the club, so I assume he will continue to dispose of club assets until they run out or he gets what he wants. He must surely have considered that if he wants to sell, there needs to be something left to buy though. Frankly I've given trying to work out what he thinks as none of it - including the fact that he is the owner - makes any business sense. Who knows which way it will go?

Just from a different perspective....if you were Connell would you want to sign for a Prem club or look forward to a Tuesday night clash at Bury next season.
Not to mention you might get paid at the new club.

I would really like to know who is behind this alleged bid because the last thing we want is to go from the frying pan into the fire - and we know Anderson is increasingly desperate to sell - so I'm wondering where "the club's best interest" fits into that scenario.

He'll probably get Doris the tealady's vote - the man owns McVitie's and Jacob's of cream cracker fame.
He is a credible owner in many respects - a philanthropist with a history of investing in football clubs including Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, but he has been known to withdraw his support as quickly as he gives it which is a worry - although in Turkey he cited violence and a shit atmosphere as the reason - so we've got half a chance as there's not much violence at the Macron
I wouldn't count any chickens on this one though as the Newcastle deal was thought to be done before he walked. And he has our very own poor man's Mike Ashley to deal with.
