Only one moment of panic and that was after racing off his line to clear from Eisa – but his old mate Baptiste was back on the line to preserve another clean sheet.
Looking very strong at the moment and has the confidence to push on and produce crosses from the right. Worked well with Isgrove in the first half especially.
But for one straight ball over the top which led to the scramble off the line Santos was in imperious form, shrugging off challenges and getting his head to everything.
Used all his experience against a tough customer in Loft and really came up with the goods for Bolton when they most needed it, making the clearance to keep it at 1-0.
Has a Rolls Royce engine and darting forward in the first 45 minutes he was nearly untouchable. Once he is 100 per cent fit, he will be something else.
Unheralded, perhaps, but the former Blackpool man is doing the jobs others have shirked this season. His passing range is under-rated too.
Big call to put the youngster back in for such a pivotal game but once again he rewarded Evatt’s faith with a big performance.
Produced great quality from the right when Wanderers got him into the game and worked hard against the ball as well.
Played in a more central role so didn’t have as many opportunities to run at defenders as he did at Mansfield and Southend. A youngster who looks like he has big promise.
Worked just as hard as Isgrove to keep Bolton’s shape and pin back the Scunthorpe wide men and earned the penalty. The goals will come again.
Blasted an unstoppable penalty but also produced an unselfish moment of genius for Sarcevic’s goal. Top class.
Subs: Sarcevic 6.5, 69 (for Afolayan) – Fantastic to see him back in scoring form.
Miller 79 (for Doyle) – Could have grabbed a third late on.
Gnahoua 79 (for Delfouneso) – Worked hard to keep the shape.
Maddison 89 (for Isgrove) – Late entrance and a few silky touches.
Not used: Comley, Tutte, Jackson.
Scunthorpe (4-4-1-1): Howard; Brown, Bedeau, Taft, Rowe; Green, Beestin, Karacan, Gillead; Eisa; Loft.
Subs: McGahey 46 (for Bedeau), Van Veen 46 (for Green), Clarke 46 (for Rowe), Spence 75 (for Karacan), O’Malley 75 (for Brown).
Not used: Watson, Hallam.
Referee: Anthony Backhouse 6/10 – A couple of headscratchers in the first half but generally a sound display. Scunthorpe may beg be to differ on the penalty award.
