Novels are to be read, plays are to be watched, and poetry is to be heard/spoken out loud.

Loved your poem, y2j. Very Happy

Some great poetry here for anyone into it. My old friend, and boss Felix Dennis who sadly passed away a few years ago now.

Ryan Giggs love poem to his missus was read out in court today. Like his missus and her sister, it takes some beating...

‘Darling Kate. Unequivocally our love was fate.
‘I fell in love with you at first sight. I remember coz I was as high as a kite.
‘Those beautiful eyes, made me shiver.
I’m not gonna lie, I think of you, I dream of you. Can’t help thinking, pulling you was my greatest ever coo [sic].
‘That stomach, those abs, those pictures you sent.
‘So I can keep tabs on you, makes me feel funny down there. Especially when you are there and you look up and stare.
‘I’m beginning to think you are always right. That’s okay it will keep us tight
‘I’m gonna end by saying you are my love, my friend, my soul.
‘And most of all you believe in me. Which makes me feel as hard as a totem pole.’

Giggedy Giggsy!

The Mower
BY PHILIP LARKIN

The mower stalled, twice; kneeling, I found
A hedgehog jammed up against the blades,
Killed. It had been in the long grass.

I had seen it before, and even fed it, once.
Now I had mauled its unobtrusive world
Unmendably. Burial was no help:

Next morning I got up and it did not.
The first day after a death, the new absence
Is always the same; we should be careful

Of each other, we should be kind
While there is still time.

Lovely.

I thought Philip Larkin's brief inscription on the Jubilee stone in Queen's Square succinctly summed up many people's thoughts on the Queen:

In times when nothing stood
But worsened, or grew strange,
There was one constant good:
She did not change.
