I spent many hours as a lad watching British comedies; Are You Being Served and Benny Hill being among the most notable. Hands down, however, my favourite was always 'Allo 'Allo! The problem with series in syndication is that they are not necessarily shown in the correct order. I have seen many episodes from the 9 series life of this great show and even a few seasons in the correct order, but never the entire thing.
I decided to treat myself in my advancing years and see the entire thing from start to finish. I was just watching the first episode - one I had never seen before - and being introduced to characters I have become so fond of over the years gave me a real sense of nostalgia. Seeing Michelle of the Resistance saying it "only once" for the first time, LeClerc being sprung from prison... good times. No new comedy on television has made me laugh as much as 22 minutes of this first episode has. If you don't see me around as often as I have been, I'll probably be in a small French café in the town of Nouvion.
