Help with a maths problem

won't go into the huge backstory but thought i would ask for peoples help in solving this;  you would be doing me a huge favour.  me and a mate challenge each other to these on a daily basis and this one has really stumped me.  Please help.

2x + 3y(a2 x b3) - 1x / 10y(2b + 3a) = 78

x=?
y=?
b=?
a=?

Is that "a squared X b cubed" in the first set of parentheses? 

If it's not, your equation is unsolvable.

Right, it took a while but I've got it.

The answers are as follows:

X = -27.2

Y = Some marbles.

A = Nicole Scherzinger

B = 1966 or Half past three, next Wednesday.

Simple in the end.......
