We had only beaten the USA once before - in home soil - and have come very close to doing so on a number of occasions, only for bizarre decisions to go against us. One such notable occasion was a WC qualifier where a tackle was made approximately 22 yards from goal and the officials inexplicably gave a penalty resulting in a 1-0 defeat.
This time we kicked some ass and took names. We were ahead 2-0 at the break and early in the second half, our 3rd string goalkeeper fumbled a shot and also managed to prevent a defender from clearing the ball resulting in what amounted to a consolation goal.
On the bright side, Tim didn't get a game so no injury concerns - and I got a look at young Yedlin who has been linked with us. He is fast but very raw and not very technical.
