Ben Amos was left feeling mixed emotions after Bolton Wanderers drew with Bristol City on Saturday.

The goalkeeper kept his fifth clean sheet of the season against the Robins, but Neil Lennon’s side were left rueing missed opportunities as the clash ended in stalemate at Macron Stadium.

Frustrated at dropping points despite their chances, including a saved Shola Ameobi penalty, Amos voiced the importance of regrouping and pushing on after the November international break.

“All the players are disappointed we couldn’t get the win,” said the goalkeeper. “We created some good chances but it didn’t quite fall our way, but if you don’t win the game then you’ve got to make sure you don’t lose the game.

“On another day we score three of four goals and it’s a comfortable win. We’re all trying our upmost, maybe too hard.

“It’s frustrating but I am confident things will get better and I am sure everyone else is too.

“The positive is we’ve managed to pick up a point and get another clean sheet. It’s nice, it’s what I’m paid to do – to keep the ball out of the net. I’ll take them anyway they come.

“Hopefully there are many more to come and the team can build on that and pick up points along the way.”

Amos continued: “We just need to relax and things will come together. We all believe we are capable of turning things around.

“Everyone’s pulling together and helping each other through it. That’s what you need to do when things aren’t quite going your way as they’re not at the moment.

“We’ve got the international break now. We’ll regroup and work hard, and put the hours in to make sure we’re up and at it when the games start again.”
