Wanderers defender Prince-Desire Gouano was in Paris at the time of last Friday night’s terrorist attacks, the club has confirmed.

The 21-year-old was visiting his partner, who is pregnant, at his home in the city during the international break.

At least 129 people were killed when seven co-ordinated attacks were carried out in the French capital by militants. President Francois Hollande has since declared a state of national emergency.

Neil Lennon confirmed this morning that the centre-half, on loan from Italian club Atalanta, is now back in France to be at the birth of his child.

The Wanderers boss also revealed that one of the player’s wife’s friends had been killed in the attack.

“Prince was in Paris at the time,” he told this morning’s press conference. “A friend of his partner was killed in the atrocity so it's not been an easy time for the whole of France. He came in, he trained, he seemed okay.

“His partner is actually expecting a baby today or tomorrow. He's back in France now to be at the birth. They've been okay. They haven't really touched on it that much but it's unavoidable because it's everywhere at the minute."

Lennon is confident the defender will return to the squad for Saturday’s game at Reading.

“He'll be back. He's only missing today, he'll be back tonight and train tomorrow.”
