I went to pick my sisters kids up after school yesterday afternoon. I parked a couple of streets away and set off on the three minute walk to school.

As I was passing a large detached house I noticed a guy rattling the gates as though he wanted to get into the house. I soon realised he was blind due to the white stick and asked him if I could help.

It turned out he thought the gates were the school gates, when I told him he was about three houses down from the school we laughed and I offered to escort him to school. He seemed a nice bloke.

Anyway, we get to school and are standing in the playground waiting for the kids to come out, and I say to him who are you collecting?

He doesn't even hesitate, and simply says oh nobody, I just like being in the playground and hearing the excited kids as they come out of school.

Awkward. Was he just a bit weird or had I inadvertently been cover for a paedophile to get access to children?

Anyway, the children came out and I quickly grabbed my sisters kids and we were out of there quick sharp. I'm now beginning to doubt he was even blind, perhaps it was just a trick? So far no kids have been reported missing, but that's the last time I help a blind person regardless of their situation. You can't trust anyone these days.

Has a paedophile ever tricked you?

I'm way too smart to be tricked.

(Thanks for helping with the gate by the way, I could have sworn I was rattling the right one).

You're lucky, it's on the rise though so keep your eyes and ears open.

While yer on - you didn't notice a white stick lying around did you? I've looked all over but I'm buggered if I can find it.

A few years ago there was a bloke in Manchester who pretended to be blind. He had a white stick and wore dark glasses. His modus operandi was to visit McDonald's and order food. When the female staff took his food to a spare table he would deliberately brush against them or touch them inappropriately.

He got away with it a few times before he eventually got arrested.

Did you do it again?

Yes but only after I left Manchester and moved to London. There are hundreds of McDonald's in London. It's an absolute playground for touchers and feelers.

Should you not have let the school know Whitless?

I don't know for a fact he was a paedophile, he could just have been a bit eccentric.

It's not fair to brand someone a paedophile without evidence, you of all people should know that.
