Please help.  Im struggling with my 7 year olds homework already.

Its not something i have ever heard of.

He is doing his spellings, which im fine helping him with, but he is doing ones with apostrophes.  Which again is fine, but instead of saying apostrophe, he is saying imperitive comma.  Is this a different way of saying apostrophe?

An apostrophe is one of these "'", whereas a comma (imperative or otherwise) is one of these ",".

Hope that helped.

Yeah i know that.

But he said his teacher said an apostrophe can also be called an imperitive comma.

I think he must have misheard. A comma is a comma. There are imperative (note the correct spelling) clauses and sentences but I have never heard of an imperative comma.

Never heard that before.

An imperative comma is something else entirely I think.

(Googles it.)

Yeah, it is.

Sounds like his teacher's a knob. Best change schools, mate.

Is it not a little OTT the amount they get?

What happened to kids being able to enjoy themselves after school?

Most teachers in primary schools are flat dicks, not knobs, if we are being factually correct about things?

I said the teacher is a knob, not has a knob.

Is Whittam a knob?

Yes.

Ergo, my point stands.

When my kids were younger I remember helping them with their homework and it was the maths that baffled me. I have never seen such a long and convoluted way to carry out such simple tasks.
Multiplications and divisions were carried out using tables and scales and all sorts of things, so I had to get them to show me how they did it.
I showed him how I was taught and he picked that up and was able to do it in minutes, but then when I picked him up from school the teacher pulled me to one side and said it had to be done the way they were teaching it.
But even she rolled her eyes and said it was a lot more complicated but they have to do it as per the curriculum.
