What Is Your Gender?

Fuck me, this used to be a choice of two, but each year the choices seem to increase.

I've just spent 2 minutes of my life completing a BBC Sport website survey and the final question was "What is your gender?".

There were 5 choices.

Male
Female
Unspecified
Intersex
Prefer Not To Say

Unspecified? Who the fuck falls in to that category? What is "unspecified" exactly? Alien? Abominable Snowman? Dougie Freedman?

And what the fuck is "intersex?" I've just had to Google it and I'm still not sure. Do people really go around saying "I'm not male, I'm intersex."

For some reason I am a role model for the LGTB community, but even the Transgender people would surely tick male or female, they're not trying to be a new species.

And who would prefer not to say? Are they trying to hide the fact they are male or female?

Am I behind the times, or has the world gone mad. Do any of you (that aren't KP) identify with intersex or unspecified?

I worked at a place who had 23 possible answers to the gender question, and monitored them to ensure adequate representation of each category

Slighty off topic but these people bringing up their kids as gender neutral get right on my tits. Can they not see they are causing more issues?

When my daughter was very little we didn't get her anything particularly gender specific - you know things like a football for a boy and a dolly for a girl, type thing.

Yes we did dress her in pink but that was because the Mrs Sluffy at the time got sick of being asked if the baby was a boy or a girl.

The thing though was that she gravitated to girly stuff anyway.

I guess at playgroup and other stuff the girls sort of got together and the boys got together and tended to play amongst themselves and my daughter probably just copied what other little girls had and were doing. Also I would imagine she followed more closely what mummy did - as she was on maternity leave - more so than what daddy was doing - because I was at work throughout the day.

I guess what I'm trying to say if you want your child to grow up free of gender influence, you need to also control the environment and culture in which they are raised and nurtured also.

Seeing that some religions still believe in (the barbaric) female gender mutilation, then that isn't going to be happening anytime soon.
