Today I watched the most vulgar thing I've seen since Whittam PM'd me a link to her home movie collection.

I'd heard brilliant things about a film called Happiness starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, which I finally watched this morning.

Indeed it was a fantastic film, but my god it was quite simply fucking sick. I'll not go into details on here, I'm sure if you're interested you'll look into it, but even if you're pretty open minded, I would warn you that it's not an easy watch.

So excluding any of your little internet favourites, or even that secret stack of VHS's in the loft that you can't bring yourself to throw away, what's the most disgusting movie you have ever seen?

Ken Russell's The Devils in the original unedited form. Saw it at the ABC when it was released just before the censors stepped in. That same year ('71) saw the release of a lot of great films where the violence was vindictive, fatuous and increasingly gratuitous (Clockwork Orange and Straw Dogs for example) after which the censors clamped down. I don't believe the original "Devils" is still available in the unedited version as it was banned in most countries and then edited to bits in the few places it was made available. 1971 was a great year for film (French Connection, Shaft and AD's favourite Get Carter amongst them) but sadly marking the beginning of 30 years of overzealous censorship IMHO.

This one looks like a remake to the one I have seen.

I once had the misfortune to watch one of those Saw films which had this character called Jigsaw. One film was enough.

Dunno, only knew him off here, and I’ve only just been allowed back in.

Anyone seen the latest Jennifer Lawrence/Darren Aronofsky film "Mother!"?

Stomach-churning. Emperor's new clothes? It's either symbolic genius or the most gratuitously grotesque spectacle ever.  Still trying to work out which!  Audiences boo loudly during screenings, or dash to the loo to be ill. Certainly plays with your mental state.

I was really put off by the reviews - but it's probably one I'd enjoy in all honestly.

One respected reviewer wrote: "This delusional freak show is two hours of pretentious twaddle" so I might make an effort to see it.

Obviously I cannot endorse this free link.
