Wanderers appear primed to sign Dutch giant Michiel Kramer outside of the transfer window after his release at Feyenoord.

The 6ft 5ins striker ended a two-and-a-half year stay in Rotterdam yesterday, paving the way for a move into English football.

Phil Parkinson – who failed in attempts to bring Ipswich’s David McGoldrick, Charlton’s Josh Magennis, Derby’s Chris Martin and Middlesbrough’s Ashley Fletcher on deadline day – admits the club is still in the hunt for free transfers.

“There were a numbers of players we spoke to prior to Gary Madine leaving,” he said. “We brought Tyler Walker in as a striker expecting Gary to be here.

“We tried late in the day for a few that didn’t get over the line.

“It’s difficult to get striker in because everyone wants goalscorers. But there are a few abroad who are out of contract and we’re still in touch.

“There was no rush yesterday to bring them in because of the contract situation.”

Kramer boasts an impressive scoring record for Feyenoord, Den Haag, Volendam, and NAC Breda in Holland, scoring 98 goals in 280 senior appearances.
