Harry Brockbank and David Wheater were back in a Bolton Wanderers shirt yesterday – but talk of a permanent deal is premature.

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad were in town yesterday to play a behind-closed-doors friendly at Lostock – where goals from Erhun Oztumer and Connor Hall were not enough to stop Phil Parkinson’s side from slipping to a 3-2 defeat.

Jason Lowe captained a side that also included Remi Matthews, Luke Murphy, Josh Magennis, Yoann Zouma and Jordan Boon.

The Bolton News understands that academy graduate Brockbank has been training with Wanderers for the last couple of weeks and is still keen to stay at the club despite having several offers to play elsewhere this summer.

The likes of Burnley and Sunderland have been linked with the 20-year-old but Parkinson is understood to have recommended to new owners that he is secured to a contract as quickly as possible.

Wheater turned down contract talks with Scottish SPL side Kilmarnock last week to speak to Salford City but with that move now looking unlikely, he has been asked by Parkinson to come in to keep up his fitness.

Midfielders Ben Pringle and Craig Conway also featured in the game, having trained with the club for the last week.

Pringle left Preston North End in June, having helped Tranmere Rovers to promotion from League Two during a loan spell. Conway made 26 appearances at Blackburn Rovers in all competitions last season.

Top Saudi club Al-Ittihad have visited the Bolton Whites Hotel for the last couple of years and utilised facilities at the training ground.

It is expected most of the senior players who played on Tuesday afternoon will be used at Chester on Friday night.

Meanwhile, details have been confirmed for Wanderers’ Carabao Cup first round game at Rochdale on Tuesday, August 13. Tickets will cost £15 for adults, £5 for Under-20s and £1 for Under-11s and can be bought on the day.
