Bolton Nuts

Admin

After two defeats and a home draw against Coventry City Bolton will be looking to get through another tough test away to Tranmere Rovers.

Injuries to several players, Hall, Oztumer and now Polotic and Edwards after the 5-2 cup defeat against Rochdale it will be a difficult ask even for a point. At this stage it's a case of asking the players to give 100% and hope something clicks.

Who knows, all this game time might give us some real strength in depth in months to come. Lets hope so!

I hate Tranmere like most Bolton fans and hope and pray we can stuff the pretend scousers but with injuries mounting up and no end to the takeover saga the best we can hope for is a draw as Biggie says.

It will take another performance like Saturday to get anything from this but if there is one team i really want us to beat this year it's these bastards.

Another loss, but not unsurprisingly until takeover complete, anyhoo, this is what they'll look like tomorrow.

Well tommed- but its exactly what we expected. Hopefully  by the next game the takeover will be completed, Bassini will be a ghost of the past, and we can get on and sign some new players. Our luck will change and  we'll be able to put games like this behind us but for the moment we've just got to put up with results like this.

If the Football League don't kick us out of the league for repeatedly sending out a pub league standard team, Parky must have a chance of beating the club's worst start to a season record.Again

The scores don't matter. Look at the passion the fans have got for the club again. This has been missing for many years.

Listened to it on the radio and it sounded like Tranmere try to rough up the young lads and we struggled with their physicality.
We have 2 game in the next week and the boys can't be expected to keep playing and competing against much older and experienced teams, As much as i love watching them it's not good for their long term development and their confidence.

Absolute bollocks. It's a game of football, not the front line in a war.

I've read some right shit from Bolton fans over the last 12 hours or so, about how games should be cancelled rather than put these "poor boys" through this "torture".

Just fuck off, these boys are living the dream, so let them fucking get on with it.

Report: Tranmere Rovers 5-0 Bolton Wanderers

Tranmere Rovers picked up the points at Prenton Park as they ran out 5-0 winners.

Goals from Ollie Banks, Morgan Ferrier (2), Connor Jennings and Stefan Payne went unanswered against a young Wanderers side.

Team News

Phil Parkinson’s men were without the services of Liam Edwards and Dennis Poltic who both picked up knocks following the midweek game at Rochdale.

First Half

The hosts had a bright and energetic start and Remi Matthews was pressed into action early on and had to tip over Ollie Banks’ right sided cross-cum-shot for a corner.

Wanderers broke away well and although King-Harmes found Darcy with a pinpoint cross, the young attacker was unable to get a strong touch and the chance was lost.

The visitors were holding firm, led by captain Lowe who was partnering Zouma at centre half, and when they had the ball they looked good and positive in possession.

Morgan Ferrier was lucky to receive a yellow card for a heavy challenge on Broackbank which left the defender requiring treatment.

Matthews again thwarted Banks from distance with a comfortable stop after the midfielder tried his luck from distance.

Things were getting a little heated as the half wore on and Brockbank had his name taken for a late challenge on Monthe.

Banks, by far Tranmere’s most threatening player, broke the deadlock on 38 minutes when his long ranger flew into the roof of Matthews’ net.

One became two and moments later Ferrier doubled the hosts’ lead after bundling a loose ball over the line.

Matthews stood up to prevent Morris from making it three just before the break after the midfielder broke into the penalty area.

The half time whistle couldn’t come soon enough for the young Wanderers though Weir’s free-kick right on the whistle was tipped onto the bar by Davies in the Tranmere goal.

Second Half

Tranmere got their noses further ahead just after the restart when Ferrier lost the close attentions of Zouma to pant a low shot into the bottom corner.

Zouma earned Wanderers a corner after a mazy foray in to the Tranmere box but the hosts broke away from the resulting set piece which culminated in Blackett-Taylor firing into the side netting.

A foul right on the edge of the box on King-Harmes gave Wanderers a chance from distance but Weir’s well struck free kick went over Davies’ bar.

The hosts’ fourth goal came through Jennings whose shot just crept over the line after some good work by Morris on the flank.

Stefan Payne added a fifth with just over ten minutes remaining.

Wanderers screamed for a penalty after substitute Brown-Sterling was apparently held as he tried to get on to Brockbank’s low centre.

The scoreline flattered Tranmere but every Wanderers player out on the pitch could hold their heads up high for the effort they put in right until the final whistle.

Bolton Wanderers: Matthews, Lowe(C), Murphy, Weir, Brockbank, Darcy, Zouma, Brown (Riley 88), Graham, King—Harmes (Brown-Sterling 75), White (Boon 68)

Subs Not Used: Alexander, Senior, Richards, Osigwe

You're talking bollocks Nat, getting smashed every week is good for no one especially 16 and 17 year old boys. They just can't compete physically with League 1 teams.
I hope most of them stay in the first team sqaud but we need some more experienced players in the team or we are going to get smashed bu 4 or 5 every week.

You can't cancel games just because you fear getting smashed.

Funnily enough, no one feared for the lads when we drew with Coventry.

They are 16, 17 & 18 years old, they will be fucking loving playing, I bet none of them are saying "I don't want to play boss, it might mentally scar me".

Got to agree with Nat actually, they’re playing every week essentially with no expectations or pressure and an overwhelmingly positive group of fans cheering their every touch. They’ll benefit from this and so will we in my opinion.

Obviously we do still need plenty of additions, this squad isn’t up to the amount of games we have.
