Josh Emmanuel feels Wanderers are just one win away from something special.

Keith Hill’s side are going to need promotion form between now and May if they are going to upset the odds and climb away from the relegation zone in League One.

They have yet to claim a victory this season but, nevertheless, the mood around the first-team base at Lostock since the goalless draw against Blackpool has been positive.

Emmanuel thinks the team can achieve the required consistency to get out of trouble once they chalk up their first three points.

“We’re a good three games behind other teams but we’re still dominating teams. Talk is cheap, though, we need to get that win,” the Londoner said. “Why not start against Rochdale next time we play?

“All of us are here to play and make the challenge worthwhile. We’re here to win it, ultimately.

“One game at a time. Once we get that win we’ll be flying. The fans have stuck with us while things have been tough, so when we start wining games I can’t imagine what this place is going to be like.

“I love being up north. I was at Rotherham – and notherners are just happy. It’s a great place to be.”

Emmanuel tore up his contract at Ipswich after eight years at Portman Road, man and boy, to link-up with Wanderers on transfer deadline day.

And though the challenge of keeping his new club in League One is very different to the promotion chase currently being experienced by the Tractor Boys, he has no regrets about heading to Bolton.

“Just the fact I wasn’t playing at Ipswich made up my mind, really,” he said. “The gaffer here said he was interested so like any other player I wanted to be wanted. As long as I do what the gaffer here is telling me to do, I’ll play, so I was buzzing to come here.

“They (Hill and Flitcroft) are great people and they make you want to drive yourself on.

“It’s great to have them around because the place feels upbeat and despite all the new signings coming in, we’re gelling.”
