Wanderers fans are being reminded to take their seats early for this afternoon’s Remembrance Day match.

A special order of events will take place before kick-off in what is a poignant year for the club.

Eighty years ago, captain Harry Goslin made an impassioned speech to Burnden Park urging people to sign up and serve their country – and then led his entire team, who would become known as the Wartime Wanderers, to the recruitment office.

To mark the occasion, players will all be wearing customised poppy themed shirts for the League One match, which will also be auctioned off afterwards, with the monies going to the Royal British Legion.

Volunteers from the Royal British Legion will also be outside the University of Bolton Stadium and dotted around the inside of the ground with collection buckets.

At approximately 2.50pm, a guard of honour will be made to honour the members of the military in attendance and their families.

Wanderers’ club chaplain Phil Mason will read the Ode to Remembrance, before a minute’s silence will then be observed prior to kick-off.
