Antoni Sarcevic prepares to return from injury for Wanderers against Harrogate this weekend – with Ian Evatt tipping him to make his comeback count.

The club skipper has watched the last two games from the side-lines after a tough start to his Bolton career.

But with Evatt reporting a fresh resolve among his players on the training ground following the defeat to Newport County last weekend, the Whites head coach has backed Sarcevic to make a positive return to the side.

“Sarce has been exceptional this week, like a man possessed,” he told The Bolton News. “You can see he’s been hurting, you can see he cares.

“He’s the captain of this football club and he has my full backing.

“I think he will come out on Saturday and show everyone what a fantastic player he can be.

“I’ve got no doubt that we’ll see an Antoni Sarcevic who is ready to make a difference for this football club.”

Striker Shaun Miller is once again unlikely to make the trip to Doncaster – Harrogate’s temporary home – following his own spell out of action.

The 33-year-old has been missing since scoring against his former club Crewe in the EFL Trophy and Evatt remains cautious about throwing him back in too early.

“He is back with us but he’s not quite ready for Saturday – and that’s more because he came to us quite late after lockdown, with no club,” he said.

“We tried to fast-track him but he broke down. So we’re being a little more careful with him and don’t want him to miss any significant length of time.”
