WANDERERS (3-4-1-2)

MATT GILKS…5.5.

Kept up his regular commentary, not that the instruction seemed to sink in at times. Completely stranded by Tranmere’s second.

ALEX BAPTISTE…4.5.

Joined in quite well in the second half down the right but blotted his copybook with a daft handball, which seems more unnecessary after repeated viewing.

RICARDO SANTOS…5.5.

Picked out a few good passes from the back and didn’t make many noticeable errors. This was not a day in which any of the defenders came out with great credit, though.

RYAN DELANEY…4.5.

Beaten in the air by Clarke for the first goal and pedalling backwards for the second. After such a fine night at Cheltenham, a day he will want to forget.

HARRY BROCKBANK…5.

Great to see him back in the starting line-up, even under such difficult circumstances. Whether he has the attacking instincts to play left wing-back is up for debate.

ANTONI SARCEVIC…5.

Didn’t cover himself in glory for Morris’s goal, where the gap seemed to open up in front of him. Better going forward but never felt like he was on top in midfield.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.

Able to spot a pass and rarely gave the ball away. Work to do on his defensive game but there was nothing to be ashamed about in his performance.

GETHIN JONES…6.

Looked more comfortable pushing forward on the right side and put nine crosses into the box as a result. Not a natural born attacker but worked hard.

LLOYD ISGROVE…4.

Anonymous. After an impressive game at Cheltenham we needed more from the former Swindon man but nothing he did seemed to come off.

EOIN DOYLE…5.

Five shots on goal, only one on target, the experienced striker will know had he got Bolton on the scoreboard it would have been a different game.

NATHAN DELFOUNESO…4.

Unusually subdued on the day. Looked jaded after Tuesday’s win at Cheltenham and it was a surprise to see him go the distance.

Subs: Crawford 5, 63 (for Brockbank) – Brought one save out of Davies.

Not used: Crellin, Comley, Crawford, White, Mascoll, Greenidge, Darcy.

Tranmere Rovers (4-3-1-2): Davies; MacDonald, Clarke, Nelson, Ridehalgh; Feeney, Spearing, Young; Morris; Vaughan, Blackett-Taylor.

Subs: Banks 57 (for Spearing), Ferrier 67 (for Blackett-Taylor), O’Connor 89 (for Morris), Lloyd-McGoldrick 89 (for Vaughan), Woolery 89 (for Feeney).

Not used: Murphy, Ray.

Referee: Charles Brakespear – 5/10. Wanderers were left complaining about his handling of the second goal, where he appeared to be stopping the game for a foul on Ryan Delaney.
