WANDERERS (4-2-3-1).

MATT GILKS…7.

Made an important save at his near post in the first half from Wilson and came to make quite a few pressure-relieving claims when the home side lumped the ball into the box.

GETHIN JONES…6.5.

Got forward well in the first half an hour when all the space seemed to be on the right flank. From there, he chipped in more with the defensive effort.

RICARDO SANTOS…8.

Attacked everything that came into the penalty box with confidence and was strong on the rare occasions that Forest Green ran in direct.

ALEX BAPTISTE…8.5.

Showed every bit of his experience with some first class positioning and a few superbly timed challenges to ensure the home side never really got too close to goal.

DECLAN JOHN…7.

Carries the ball so well at speed, which opened up occasional gaps in a well-drilled defence. Unlucky with one second-half shot after a lovely exchange on the edge of the box.

MJ WILLIAMS…8.

Looks so at home in front of the back four. Spotted danger when he was needed and also picked out some good passes to get Bolton going on the break.

KIERAN LEE…8.

Toggled between the defensive role and the number 10 slot but barely broke a stride in doing so. Used the ball well and always seemed to be available.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…7.5.

Ran himself to a standstill. Strong with the ball and disciplined without it. Dapo should have won a penalty late on with his trickery too.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.5.

But for a couple of wayward passes the youngster rose completely to the occasion. He went close with a decent shot in the first half and linked up readily with the front men.

NATHAN DELFOUNESO…6.

Had a difficult first half an hour but then switched on the afterburners to steal a yard of space and whip in the best cross of the day for Doyle’s goal.

EOIN DOYLE…7.5.

Hardly had a kick at the point he connected with the 39th minute volley. Worked hard in the second half to see the result home too.

SUBS: Isgrove 79 (for Delfouneso) – Put in a good 10-minute shift.

Gnahoua 79 (for Afolayan) – Ate up some precious moments with his running.

Tutte 85 (for Thomason) – Filled in some of the late gaps.

Miller 85 (for Doyle) – Tried to get involved and see the win out.

NOT USED: Maddison, Brockbank, Jensen.

Forest Green (4-4-2): Thomas; Cargill, Moore-Taylor, Stokes, Bernard; Wilson, Allen, Whitehouse, Bailey; Collins, Matt.

Subs: Davison 7 (for Matt), Young 57 (for Bailey), Godwin-Malife 66 (for Allen).

Not used: McGee, Hutchinson, Wagstaff, Richardson.

Referee: David Rock – 5/10. Not sure he was helped out by his linesmen at times but Rock should have given a penalty in the second half for a foul on Afolayan and came across rather prissy with his decision making.
