Dogs. Cat's are easier to keep, not needing a stroll round the pond every half hour, but it'll always be dogs for me.
Mind you, our Springer died in 2010, and we've not had one since.

Aw.
Maybe you should get a rescue dog?

They wouldn't mind a stroll round the pond every half hour.

And I'd always have a pal to pull me out.

Hate cats and whilst I certainly wouldn’t hurt one I definitely wouldn’t have one as a pet. In fact nobody has a cat as a pet, the cat has you!!

This is true.
I ended up with a cat.

It just moved in.
Decided it was leaving its current home. Packed it's bag. And just started showing up.

I kept it.

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

Another vote for dogs from me.

I can’t bloody stand cats. They like to shit in your garden and scrap and meow in the night and wake you up.

Always cats for me. Had them all my life. Got just the one at the moment as Mrs. Priest won't let me have another one. I do love dogs but I always prefer them to be other people's dogs. Can't be doing with all the pointless and annoying barking and the daily "walkies" business. Having said that, the only dog I've ever owned was a Westie that my daughter got and then when she moved out the dog definitely didn't want to go with her. When we eventually had to say goodbye to her because she developed a tumour on her brain (she was 12) I absolutely wept buckets for weeks on end.

Bit of a binary choice this. I like cats and dogs and hamsters and guinea pigs and budgies and ferrets and pretty much all pets generically but I don't like pets with bad attitude, especially snappy little dogs.

I don't like dogs who try to hump everything, from legs, to cushions. They always do it at the worst possible moment.
Farting dogs are a pain too. We used to have one who was a regular farter, but his reaction to it was to take it as some kind of personal affront, immediately grabbing the nearest cushion and shaking it to buggery.
