'Extremely generous' - Bolton to fund Cheltenham supporters coach 17653556

Wanderers will fund a coach for Cheltenham supporters for the re-arranged match at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

The initial fixture was abandoned due to a medical emergency in the crowd and it was later confirmed that lifelong Bolton fan Iain Purslow had sadly passed away.

The match will now take place on Tuesday, January 23 after Burton agreed to move their home clash with the Robins.

Cheltenham thanked Wanderers for their “extremely generous gesture” in an official statement on their website.

The statement read: “Bolton Wanderers have kindly agreed to fund a supporters coach for Robins fans for the re-arranged fixture against the Whites on Tuesday, January 23.

“We would like to place on record our sincerest thank you to Bolton for this extremely generous gesture.”

It continued: “We would once again like to thank our supporters for their patience and understanding during these difficult circumstances.”

There has been a very positive response to the gesture, with one fan writing: “This club will never cease to amaze me. We must have one of the best owners in football.”

Another added: “A great gesture, nice to see two clubs coming together for the fans” and a third said: “Well done Bolton, cracking gesture and great to see”.

The Gloucestershire club have also been praised for their response to the tragic event at the weekend.

Tributes were paid to Iain during the FA Cup third-round replay against Premier League Luton on Tuesday night.

Before kick-off, both sides stood together for a picture while the captains held up a shirt featuring his name.

There was also a minute’s silence and the players donned black armbands. Finally, the stadium applauded in the 71st minute to celebrate Iain’s life.
