Wanderers have rejected enquiries from other League One clubs to sign strikers Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Cameron Jerome on loan.
Ian Evatt says he is unlikely to allow any of his core first team players to leave before the close of the January transfer window on Thursday.
Bolton’s interest in Bristol Rovers’ Aaron Collins and Blackburn Rovers’ Niall Ennis has prompted a handful of phone calls about Bodvarsson and Jerome’s availability.
Both experienced front men are out of contract in the summer and have had to play a large majority of their games from the bench this season.
Evatt maintains, however, that even if he is successful in bringing another attacking player to the club over the next few days, Bodvarsson and Jerome have an important part to play.
“We have had a lot of calls about Jon and Cameron,” he said. “And we have seen rumours about Dion Charles, then Victor Adeboyejo from abroad as well. It isn’t really a surprise.
“From our perspective we know we have a really good squad of players and that there are going to be admirers elsewhere.
“But we are in no way, shape or form trying to move anyone out.
“We want to be additive to what we already have in this squad.”
It is not yet known whether Dan Nlundulu will recover from an operation on his hamstring to play any part in Wanderers’ season, and the former Southampton star’s injury has been the catalyst behind Bolton’s transfer search this month.
A £600,000 bid for Collins was turned down by Bristol Rovers and attempts to bring Ennis in on loan have thus far proved fruitless, with Blackburn demanding a £500,000 transfer fee further down the line.
Evatt remains confident he will add another signing to his ranks before the deadline but he also has faith that his existing options will aid the club’s promotion push.
“We must not forget that we have already got four pretty good ones – we’re blessed on the striker front,” he said.
“But we know with Dan being out, and being unsure on the timescale of his return, that if we lost one more it would leave us really light.
“We feel there is a need to do something. Whatever we do, we’ll do with the best interests of Bolton Wanderers at heart as we always do. We’ll try and make the best call that we think is right for us at the time.”
