The Whites recorded their fifth straight win in the Championship with a 1-0 win over the Seagulls courtesy of Marcos Alonso first half strike midway through the first half. Bolton have now recorded a clean sheet in their last three games at the Reebok Stadium.

Speaking after the game, Freedman said: “It was a very committed victory, Brighton are a very good side and they have been in and around the top six for the majority of the season so we knew what we were up against.

"They have been together for five years and they understand each other’s games so from our point of view we knew tactically we had to be spot on.

"They possess some fantastic forward play and towards the end of the game they really tested us but we stood up to the challenge.

"Today I felt we controlled the game out of possession, in other games we have controlled the game in possession, such as Tuesday night against Blackburn Rovers. Today with the way Brighton play and the threats they have it was about defending out of possession.

"We were fully committed to the cause and mixed that with a bit of tactical work to ensure we won the game, we showed desire to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

"There was a spirit and a determination today which can get you a long way and our attitude towards keeping that clean sheet was terrific.

"I was really pleased with the crowd in the last ten minutes, they saw we were a little under the cosh but they gave us their total backing and their support helped the players.

"This team now have a desire and determination which perhaps we didn’t have before; we are very disciplined both in and out of possession.

"We were spot on today tactically coming up against Brighton and that was very pleasing to see. We have now come to an end of two games per week and that period has been very profitable in terms of points but now we will look in training to consolidate what we have achieved.

"Physically it has been very demanding so we will be focusing on drills and exercises to ensure we keep the players in peak condition.

"We are back on the training ground first thing and we will be preparing for the journey to Ipswich Town next Saturday."
