"Bolton have signed centre-back David Wheater from Middlesbrough on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The 23-year-old is believed to have made the move for an initial £2.3m with a further £1.5m based on appearances".

Strangely I thought the same thing....along with the Zat signing.doffcocker wrote:I knew the minute Kevin Davies signed a new contract we were in for a shit season.
Why? nothing to do with the players themselves....but showed me that the club was not intending to move on from two critical positions on the field......then Jussi going also Fooked us up a bit more.

Cheers Sluffy, that looks a bit steep to be fair considering he was out of contract that summer!

Problem is, like super john said the other week, because if our position now the season will end in either heartbreak or extreme satisfaction. Of we dont make play offs then we will be gutted. If we do then brilliant! Before it was just like "meh we'll finish 12th and kick on next season."
Not complaining though!

Not upset in the slightest. Just surprised that you and Natasha don't actually like a single Bolton player and yet claim to be Bolton fans. I guess it's possible in a masochistic kind of way, but weird IMO.Sluffy wrote:You have your opinions mate, I have mine.
Let others decide which one of us they think is nearer the mark.
Coyle is the worst manager we've had in my lifetime - that is my opinion (and it terms of clubs worst home record ever - factual).
Can't really see why my opinion seems to be upseting you so much though?
Unless of course you are bullshitting in order to make a spurious point about Coyle.

I follow the club not the players.
You play with the hand you've got,Coyle dealt us a crap one. Few if any of these players will keep us in the Premier next season no matter how much you may rate them.
It's called being realistic.
Coyle's job was not about making the club worse for the future but that is exactly what he did

I'm still waiting for you to answer the question - how many of Coyle's signings were worth more when they left than when they signed?

You'll be waiting for a while then as most of them, especially the "ones for the future" haven't left so it's impossible to answer. You were the one who ruled out loan signings (all of whom have increased in value) to suit your argument. What we'll get for Eaves, McKee, Wylde etc we don't know, and what Alonso is worth we can only guess at but I'd reckon we'd want at least £6 million if he was in contract.Natasha Whittam wrote:wanderlust wrote:

However it's easier to find faults with any player or manager than to appreciate what they do well, and whilst you and Sluffy are busy shooting fish in a bucket you're getting me down with your incessant negativity.

Ha ha, so basically you can't name a single player who has/will increase in value. Considering Coyle brought over 30 players into the club during his spell as manager can't you just admit that's poor?
No club can survive that sort of disastrous management long-term, especially one as skint as ours.

Or do you just say what you're (predictably) going to say anyway without reading?
And can't you answer the question? Which players do you rate? Or do you think that you'll somehow be less of a person by admitting that you actually like a Bolton player, even if they're not perfect?
If in your opinion, resale value is the only criteria, then you should at least have the intelligence to factor in contracts that have expired due to our inability to maintain or increase salaries, as being out of contract reflects what players can leave for as opposed to what they're worth. So your argument has no substance.
Add to that the fact that most players signed are still with us and it underlines what a load of nonsense you are spouting.
I completely accept that Coyle was a knob and have outlined why. I've also named players whose value has increased IMO. So why are you so desperate to pick an argument that you can't possibly win? Loser.

I was put on this planet to abuse plonkers on football forums.
Your whole argument seems to be that Eaves, McKee & Wylde may increase in value. Let's ignore the MILLIONS wasted by Coyle during his time as manager on the likes of Ngog, Mears etc! Silly argument. It's like saying Hitler was a nice chap because he once let someone move ahead of him in the Post Office queue.

To be fair Sluffy was ahead of the curve when it came to Coyle (along with a few others) who noted that things weren't exactly looking bright even before the cup final.
I honestly thought Coyle could do something in this league, i was very very wrong.

I believe Penwortham Girls School specialises in "Humanities and Music"? They should consider expanding their curriculum to reading English and comprehension.Natasha Whittam wrote:wanderlust wrote:

You just don't get it do you.
He wasted MILLIONS on shite. Players like Ngog & Mears for silly transfer fees, and "free" transfers on huge wages like Petrov and Mills.
You think Eaves, McKee & Wylde will make up for all that waste? Personally I think Wylde is utter shit, he couldn't even cut it at Bury. McKee was released by Burnley deemed not good enough, and Eaves has scored a few in the lower leagues but there's little evidence he's good enough for the Championship.
Accept it, Coyle couldn't spot a good player if he was tied to a corner flag on the Barcelona training ground.

That said these new debates that you keep suggesting to sidetrack the conversation (like the difference between spotting a player and spotting a player that is affordable, available and willing to play for us) are all very interesting.
BTW still not come up with a list of Bolton players you like? I imagine it will be not too lengthy (bit like Nuggy )
