White signs for Whites - deal concluded this a.m.

Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Sheffield Wednesday defender Hayden White.

The 18-year-old makes the move across the Pennines after the two clubs agreed a compensation package.

White, who is predominately a full-back, has signed a three-year deal and will link up with Dougie Freedman's squad for pre-season training.

The London-born player was offered a professional deal with the Owls but elected to move on at the end of his time with the Hillsborough Academy.

Only young, but what a prospect. Winger converted to full back and reputed to be one of the fastest players in the game. Decent ball skills by all accounts. Can he defend? We'll see, but the Wednesday youth coach says he can. Definitely one I'd expect to see pushing for a spot next season if just half the hype about him is true.

He'll never start a senior league game, we all know that.

I'm just tired of talking about these young players - quite simply they won't be risked at this level.

This new guy will find himself on loan to Bury or Rochdale by Christmas and be sold before 18 months is up.

The irony is that Fergie built his first title winning team by doing exactly this - nicking the best of the young talent from other clubs (Beckham, Nevilles, Butt, Scholes etc)
