Everybody goes out at Christmas and buys a big turkey. Why? It's plainly a bigger, less tasty version of chicken.

Turkey doesn't taste nice. It's dry, the flavour is naff, it just isn't nice meat.

What's the fascination with turkey?

im not having a turkey this year.

Christmas dinner is getting held at Rebel Manor, have 14 people coming and only 8 places in my dining room ::seething2::

Time for peter kay-esque emergency chairs!

I've got a Goose instead and a big joint of Venison, fuck the turkey.

Unfortunately,  making sure its cooked to perfection is Mrs Rebels job, im afraid I will have to be in the pub having a couple of traditional Christmas ales pre-dinner...

I haven't had turkey for over 20 years, it's the most boring tasteless bird going.

I think that it's another Yank encroachment on this island.

Goose is the traditional bird for an English christmas dinner.

Christmas dinner is just a glorified sunday dinner which you can have every week, so we do something different every year.

A homemade Chinese buffet this year.

I'm a veggie,so turkey doesn't come in to it. As the only veggie in the family I'm relegated to an adjoining table along with two 8 year olds who spend the entire meal seeing how many pieces of food they can stick up their noses. My Dad was a butcher and always insisted that goose was better for the Christmas table,so Rebels got the right idea.

You've got me thinking about this. I'm going to try and convince the missus to try a goose this year -turkey really is boring until you curry  what's left three days after Christmas

I feel the same. You end up having it on sandwiches and in curry. I find Turkey dry and bland and much prefer chicken. We tried a capon one year and that was much better.

This year we are having prawn cocktail followed by beef stroganoff.

I don't mind turkey and it makes a nice change from the red meat we eat.

If cooked properly turkey can taste very good, It's just that if the meat becomes dry it's awful and where the gravy plays a part in helping it slide down.

There is nothing worse than dry turkey or chicken!

You can't beat a turkey and stuffing barmy just before you turn out for a Boxing Day game. I'll still be having one this year despite the fact we're away though.
