Wanderers are looking for a short-term striker fix after losing the services of Jermaine Beckford for up to a month.

Dougie Freedman revealed that he would be without his top scorer for tomorrow’s trip to Reading and the FA Cup clash with Cardiff City as a bare minimum.

And the Whites boss is now trying to raise the funds to bring in a short term measure to keep up his side’s unbeaten start to 2014.

“We are still chasing signings for certain positions but it does change things in the shorter term,” he told The Bolton News.

“This is where we needed a bit of luck. We’d rested Jermaine for three or four games while Joe Mason was here and I thought he looked very fresh against Blackpool and Forest.

“My experience tells me we’re going to have to be careful with this kind of injury but getting someone in short term is never easy. Losing him is a big blow for us.”

Craig Davies is also fit to feature in his first game since early November, possibly as a strike partner for David Ngog.

The Wales international has made just one start this season and had been ready to leave the Reebok on loan until Beckford’s injury against Nottingham Forest last weekend.

“Craig did get injured and he was lacking in match practice and we’d thought about a month ago that he could possibly go out and get some games,” Freedman said.

“He’s the sort of guy who needs games but this is an opportunity for him, especially with us playing two strikers recently, which seems to be helping us.”

There are two obvious things wrong with this statement:

1. It's Craig Davies we're talking about and we all know Dougie would rather start his Nan than Davies

and

2. Playing two strikers in a league game...? Away from home...? Yeah, right.............

Especially playing two strikers seems to help us, no shit Dougie, maybe if you had thought of it earlier we would have more points on the board.

Congrats Douglas for working out what we've been telling you for months. And to think you actually get paid for being useless.

Having said that, we all know you won't be playing two strikers tomorrow so shame on you for suggesting it.

He can't play two upfront tomorrow now that beckford is injured.

He's suggesting Craig Davies will play, even though he won't.

Except it wasn't Dougie suggesting he'd play Cavies or that he would play him in a 2 up front.
Not that the fact that he never said it would stop you wading in.

FYI the stuff that Dougie is being reported as saying appears in inverted commas - the other stuff is pure speculation on behalf of the journo.

You utter bellend, they were Dougie's words.

Dougie says this is an opportunity for him. I read that as suggesting he will play.

If I said the following.....
