Haven't a few countries boycotted it because of Putin's homophobic comments?

Skiing is the art of catching cold and going broke whilst rapidly going nowhere at great personal risk. As for curling, any sport that requires two men with brushes going at it like high school janitor's on speed, cannot be tolerated.

I have often thought that curling is a totally pointless pursuit.

Even if you don't like the Winter Olympics you have to catch the Snowboard Cross, very exciting.

I like some of the Winter Olympic sports but not others. I quite like the idea of having four or more people racing/skiing at the same time, than watch a procession of skiers/skaters going off one at a time - livens things up a treat, imo.

Not a fan of ice skating / dancing but like the ice hockey, curling, speed skating, etc.

Looking forward to it.

Hope we win a gold or two.

Maybe some brit will once again 'soar like an eagle'!

This is the biggest load of shite I have ever witnessed.

I swear half these events have been made up as a joke. What the fook is curling all about? It's just bowls on ice with a couple of people sweeping up.

The way the BBC celebrated when that bint won bronze for some obscure event you'd think she'd won the world cup, not some event no one has even heard of.

Shite and I can't believe the BBC are dedicating so much time to it.

I'm with Nat on this- can't be arsed with it. But she's not totally correct when (s)he says its the biggest load of shite (s)he has ever witnessed.

Have you been to the Reebok this season, pet.........

Our first ever medal on snow.

I think that is something to celebrate.

Some decent commentators would be a start.

I'm watching some birds skiing down a course which appears to my untrained eye to be based on a shopping centre, with hand-rails and stuff and the two goons in the commentary box sound like Bill and Ted impersonators on speed.

"Wow, yeah !!!! The British girl totally nailed it, dude!! Yeah !!! That's a medal, right there - Guaranteed !! Yeah!!!"

She came seventh.....

I could do that job.

The quality of the commentators on the BBC has reached new levels of mediocrity. In days gone by you could always trust a BBC man to be Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his own particular sport, yet still retain the ability to let the pictures speak for themselves. Knowing when to shut up is an art that's clearly been lost by this modern lot. My own king of the clowns is John Inverdale. His efforts here are an embarrassment.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j_jSE6-iPo

I couldn't actually sit through that clip, Bonce, because as soon as it came on I recognised it and remembered watching it live on the day and thinking what an insensitive fucking idiot Inverdale was.

He's a clown.

Meanwhile, back in Sochi the GB ladies Big Marbles On Ice team have just scored seven points in one end against the Yanks, which is a new olympic record for points scored in one end, apparently.

Which must mean the Yanks are proper shit.

USA! USA! USA!

My arse........ :uk:

I'd do at least two of our team (sober) and possibly a third, if drunk.

And before Magoo comes out with his ubiquitous "bum-boy gayer" comment, I'm talking about the Ladies GB Big Marbles On Ice team, not the Wanderers.

Absolutely loved it so far, the slope style commentary was hilarious and brilliant, great fun.

The young russian skater has been the highlight so far. astounding talent.

Olympics are superb.

Epiphany Alert!

I started out on Monday watching the Big Marbles on Ice and thinking it was boring and pointless.

Now, by Wednesday, I'm hooked.

It's dead technical and there's more to it than you think.

Just turned on the telly and it's more fooking curling. There's a reason it's not on through the year - it's utter shite. There's not even any real skill in it.

Why the BBC are flooding their channel with it I don't know.
