Dont think we're a big club or small.

Although I've seen us play in many a Big game along the way.

You wouldn't have to pay anywhere near that figure to purchase BWFC.

I bet if I offered Eddie Davies £30m for the club today he'd snatch my hand off.

Go for it. Although I doubt the creditors would be willing to write the debt off.

This debt is peanuts to a Billionaire ....  Chelski for example piss away untold millions of the owners money by the month.  City will never make a profit ...but the owners want the glory.

If some Yankee businessman fancys getting on TV and bragging about owning a club ...that's all it takes.  The debt is a nice write off at least in the USA.  Big shots buy office buildings and leave them standing empty to write it off their taxes.  But anyway the point is that BWFC debt is nothing to some people.

Sorry I may be misunderstanding but why would the debt be written off? I just can't see a billionaire ever buying Bolton whilst there are far more attractive propositions particularly in London.

Irrespective of writing off any of the debt, one thing nearly everybody who talks about why shouldn't some maga rich person buy up Bolton and splash the cash, don't seem to appreciate, is that under the new FFP rules, they are serverly restricted in how much they are allowed to spend on the team!

Without looking it up I think they (the club owner) can only spend something like £8 million or so per season (from their own pocket)!

I think this rule also may be effecting how the current ownership may be thinking if the story about keeping Knight on for another season or two, is true.

How much would it be to buy a replacement for him - I know he's crap but still it would cost what - £1 million to buy a like for like maybe?

If the owner can indeed only spend a maximum of £8 million - and do any of us truly think they will spend anything like that - then isn't someone like Juke a bigger priority than waste it on a Knight replacement?

Yes we could go down the loan market again - but it all still costs money and we have oh so many holes still to plug yet!

Which is why it's completely unfair, it was meant to level the playing field but it's just ensuring that no clubs can break into the 'elite' as easily. The richest can just create new revenue streams to get round it, ie use their companies to sponsor the team for ludicrous sums.

I believe most of the debt is owed to Eddie Davies and his companies.

So we're currently £160m+ in debt with virtually no chance of ever repaying it so I offer Eddie £30m to take the club off his hands as long as he writes off the debts owed to him.

So what's he going to do - keep pumping money into the club for little return, or take the £30m and never have to worry about BWFC again?

I'll get my secretary to set up a meeting.

Reading through this thread, it strikes me that it is time for the vault at Whittam Towers to be opened, the cobwebs brushed off the millions and ED to be made an offer he can't refuse  Very Happy

The cunning plan may grind to a halt as soon as the "fit and proper persons" criteria are introduced though.

Are you suggesting that you need to be fully "anatomically correct", with all your bits intact and fully functional to buy a football club nowadays?

I'm pretty sure there's no "FA Fanny Check" before allowing someone to own a football club.

Of course there is.
I did the job for years, albeit on a voluntary basis.
That Karen Brady could do with a trim I'll tell you.

I couldn't put my finger on it either. It was buried in the undergrowth.
